Hey guys, I know this question has been asked before but I am unsure if it ever got an answer. Is it possible to swap the steering rack out of a G37S sedan into a G37xS sedan? If it isnt are there any modifications that can be made to get a better steering ratio? I understand that there are limits with the AWD system but any but would help.

OP are you looking for quicker steering reaction? What is your intended purpose for your car?

Yes I am looking for a faster steering rack. Im looking to make the car, at least steering wise, just a bit quicker, a bit more responsive, a bit more alive. The idea of my build is to wake the car up/create the automotive equivalent of a down hill long-board.

Hook up your suspension first and get a nice set of wheels and tires and go from there. That would be my suggestion. I've done so and feel that my car handles extremely well and steers just as good.

I know that's not the answer you wanted. To your question I don't know the exact answer and I'm betting no one has done that to their G37x.

Well Ive already got my upgraded sway bars, and my pilot super sports. Ive got some coil overs coming and im looking at a BBK from stoptech, I need to figure out how much brake I can fit under my wheels

im currently looking into this my 2008 x sedan has a leak and the 07-14 sedan racks are the same... the parts are 100% plug n play.. the only problem is that there are about 15 different steering racks to choose from and at $1500 a piece its not exactly a trial and error situation.. but it is indeed POSSIBLE its a matter of finding the right rack.. and the rack with sport tuning seems like a dealer only part option as i cant find the right aftermarket replacement rack online... i will keep you updated on what i find out...

not to mention you gotta find a vin from a sport (RWD) sedan and hope its the right part and you have to have the correct part to match correct driveline of the car...

Be interesting to see if this does work. I've done sways, coils, wheels etc and am happy with the steering but if the S rack would be workable that is something I would consider.

I'm thinking / guessing that the ratios were different mostly because of the AWD response maybe? Thinking people were more concerned with reaction in bad weather so it was dialed down?

Also if you try to turn in too tight an arc, the AWD can complain.

I've had that experience in another, non-Nissan, AWD product.

This car isn't full time AWD or 4WD so this wouldn't be an issue. The car is 2WD until traction is lost and you shouldn't be losing traction on a slow and tight turn.
