I only knew one person with sts rear mounted turbo.
It was on a g35, it sounded unbeliveable. dont remember how much hp he was making, but he ran a,m5 kept up till 110.
Only negative is if you bottom out hard.

@harbin9er

Rear mount is cost effective. And they do sound nice and boost hard.

Called STS and they advised they would be measuring up the G37 this weekend as it is slightly longer than the 370z. The sales rep assured me that a kit for the G37 would be released!!

[QUOTE=MyocyteX;3132779]Squires Turbo Systems - Nissan 370Z

When I think rear mount turbo, I think cheap and lazy. Most people here feel the sam I'm sure so be prepared to get flamed, but I think you should do it if you want to. I would be interested to see it in action.

Good luck.[/Qoute]

I don't think cheap and lazy should go along with a rear mount system, a lot of z's do ir to save space or other cars do it because space is tight.

I come from the Corvette world and over there everyone hates the STS kits. They do have more lag than the typical front mounted turbo kits because of the longer charge pipes involved. That is turbo basics 101.. Longer charge pipes take more time to pressurize. Besides the longer charge piping you also have to remember the exhaust gas hitting the rear mounted turbo is cooler than it is at the front of the car and that is energy lost.

Also, the oil scavengers are usually the first thing to fail in the STS turbo kits. So be prepared to replace the oil scavengers that come in their kits almost immediately.

And finally the more charge piping you have the more fun you will have troubleshooting a boost leak

My kit made more power per pound of boost then the gym kit. Some people are so miss-informed because the people with the deepest pockets have the biggest mouths.

^^ Shots fired!!

This looks like a very different route to take boosting with the G.
Wonder if they still have plans to finish a kit for the G37?

BUMP... I've been contemplating a rear mounted setup and want to hear some first hand advice/stories. If you don't personally know someone with dyno graph proof, a link to a build thread or installed it themselves, please don't respond. I don't care what you think you've heard about lag, STS, cheap/lazy etc etc.. Opinions wont help me, help you, get this done.

Hey man look up papasmurf370 on instagram, he did one successfully. I think he is on the 370z forums too. I was thinking of doing this...especially now that Comp Turbo makes the oil-less triple ceramic turbos...which is what papasmurf is using on his Z. It's a grease packed bearing, that you grease every 3k-5k mile, or basically every oil change. Check it out, it's not a hard set-up and can be done for just under $4K. He has a youtube vid too
