Im not trying to be rude, but that isn't true. Even if you slightly deform a circle it has less cross sectional area.
Take a circle with a 4 inch diameter it has a cross sectional area of 12.57
That same circle deformed to an oval shape (3 x 4.88) has the cross sectional area of 11.52, so about 1 square inch less. The more you deform it, the more cross sectional area you will loose.
A circle is a more efficient shape to move air through than an oval or rectangle.

Thanks Rybitron for making me not take the easy way out and apply the science/math.

what a hassle. i'll stick with the stock cold air system. Also, wouldn't removing the top shield allow hot engine air to creep into the intake?
So the stock sealed system is a true cold air system.
Also, what do u do when its pouring cats and dog? wouldn't water get into the filters from the grill area? and when u wash ur car? or when someone else washes ur car?

I just installed my Takeda CAI from the group buy. Install was easy and I did take off the bumper. I felt it's a must in order to trim. I had to cut/trim and widen the hole on the passenger side to be able to squeeze in rubber tubing through. The driver's side did not have to, just squeezed it through.
I am working from home today and have not had a chance to go out on a test drive. Am I supposed to unplug the Neg on my battery to reset the computer before I drive?
