No limp mode at the track (without any coolers)=D
My friends and I rent out a track for 2 hours, been doing this since last year. Only upgrades were sways and tower bar. My car would go into limp mode before the end of 2nd lap.
This year I was able to keep going on until I was too tired and need to take a break and pit in after 7-8 laps each session and no limp mode, I was shocked because I was totally expecting it after 2 laps. Only mods I added since last track day was KW V3's and HKS exhaust, short shift kit and SS brake lines. I am thinking this could be the exhaust because of heat transfer.
I found this: "According to Stainless Online, a stainless-exhaust kit manufacturer, stainless-steel exhausts are more efficient ventilation systems, which reduces heat buildup in the engine. This may justify their increased cost. "

Anyway very happy with this. I was able to truly test out the capabilities of the KW V3 and very impressed. My diff did want to act up a little bit at the end of the day when I stared the car again to drive home, thinking because the diff oil was too hot. But after shutting it down and let it cool down longer, it was all good throughout another 2 hour drive home.

Obviously if I ran for a full hour things might have been different.

Definitely pushed it to the limit. I made sure of it and since I have coils this year I was able to go all out. Also was able to keep up with my friend's e46 M3, he dusted me last year without my coils. He also has coils. My diff oil boiled at the end and my titanium exhaust tips are scorched.

RPMs are cut to 2500. On a manual this allows you to gently accelerate and shift up to 6th gear and run about 60 mph. If you attempt to rev the engine above this, you get pimp slapped by the limiter. Once the condition is resolved (or reset via OBD II device) it goes away. Such as when it cools off or oil pressure is restored.

I've tracked my car several times, both with and without oil and trans coolers, and did not enter limp mode. The 7AT did start short-shifting and ignoring down-shift commands during the second and later sessions, though. VERY IRRITATING! Extra cooling did not help. Time year made no difference.
