How is G37's reliability?

Hi all. I once owned a 03 G35 for 8 years and I say it's pretty reliable (other than the window motor and cd stuck in radio, and some interior lights went out). I am looking to get a G37 as a daily driver, so I am curious to know if there are any serious issues with the car that I need to look out for, especially automatics and those with 100-200k miles. I seen a lot of high mileage G37s around, so I figured they must be very reliable if driven and maintained properly. I do not intend to mod it

Please share your experiences! Thanks!

They are pretty reliable wit the proper maintenance, the pre 2012 or 2011 not sure which ones but they have a rear timing gasket issue that is extensive in labor but other than that the Slave cylinder on the 6 speeds are known to fail but there is a concentric slave or a slave delete that will work

I cant speak for high mileage G37's since I'm currently at 42k but my car has been absolutely bulletproof thus far. The only issue I've had is the light ring around the analog clock burning out fairly early. I had it replaced under warranty and all is well now. I do keep a strict schedule on oil changes and tire rotations but other than that I have not done anything outside of the norm as far maintenance goes. Once I hit 50k, I plan on changing the rear differential and transfer case fluid and maybe the transmission fluid depending on the total cost.

This car has been great to me and has done everything I've asked it to without a sputter. I know its still relatively young in terms of mileage just thought I'd share my experience so far. I'm coming from an Audi that gave me nothing but problems so this car has been a breath of fresh air to say the least.

In my opinion, the car's weak point is the transmission. I don't mean that in terms of reliability but rather in smoothness/operation. It is very lazy at times and is hesitant to downshift, especially with quick applications of the throttle when merging onto highways and things of that nature. It does take a little time finding its sweet spots in certain gears but you'll find that the transmission does actually produce quick, smooth shifts especially as the revs climb. The best way to describe it is the faster you drive, the better it becomes. That's the way its been for me at least. Hope this helps.

Nick

Bought my '10 6MT at 50k and currently at 57k. The previous owner had already replaced the CSC and the RJM clutch pedal swap. The only things I've replaced so far are oil, tires that get chewed up from spirited driving, and front struts that were leaking because of the previous owner...also most likely from spirited driving

Almost three and a half years since new, and no problems whatsoever.

In my 4-1/2 of ownership all that's failed is the car battery (replaced under warranty while still able to start the car), the fob battery, and a window motor because it stopped responding to auto-up/down (again, warranty).

I would say the car is pretty reliable. The VQ V-6 engine has been named one of the 10 best in the world a record 15 times so it is pretty durable. I have seen people with 300,000-400,000+ miles on it. The transmission is not the smoothest, but probably due in part to it being a lot more durable than the one they used on the first 350Z's. All the suspension parts are well engineered, the chassis is solid, and the brakes on the G37S are total overkill for the street. The only thing left to talk about is the electronics which are usually pretty good in Japanese cars. I imagine we will all start to eventually see parts of the electronics fail with time as there are just so damn many of them on these cars since most of them come pretty loaded.

I really wanted another M3 when I was looking at the G37S, but I have been around Nissan products for the last 25 years and they all seem to be pretty bulletproof. I have also been around lots of German cars for even longer and they always end up costing more to own than the Nissans. So one of the main reasons I chose the G37S was reliability.

Mine is an 08 with 113k miles and i drive very spirited. the right catalytic converter went out at 60k miles but it was under warranty and replaced. other than that just regular maintenance and it's still going strong.

cv boots, one cat, muffler (all covered under warranty) Happened around 45k miles for all of that. Currently at 72k and replacing both front wheel hubs/bearings.

Overall not bad at all, however sometimes it hasn't started due to throttle bodies being dirty but it's really easy to clean them.

My previous vehicle was a Lexus IS300 that I bought with 5k miles and drove to 131k and all it needed was maintenance and had zero repairs, so it isn't Lexus reliable but requires very minimal repairs.
