Steering wheel pops/moves..normal?

When I first start my car, and after the wheel moves back into programmed spot, as soon as I grab the wheel and put pressure on it, it pops/moves...kinda hard to put it into words. Basically there is play in the wheel at start up. It's annoying and Im wondering if that's normal or something I can bring to dealer?

Mine does it as well, I'll use it as leverage when I lean up and it'll pop and move a little.

Not totally sure what you mean but when you turn the car off, the wheel locks (i think as an anti-theft measure?) so maybe you are feeling it disengage when the car is turned back on.

I've had a 2010 and now have a 2012 and they both do/did that.

I always pull it down to lock it in after the wheel/seat move into place. It's normal. If you don't like it, just turn off comfort mode in the settings.

My steering wheel does that too... whew. I honestly was thinking about asking this same exact question at some point. It doesn't do it all the time, but every so often if I pull on it too hard, it will "give" maybe a few mm.

I'd be interested to know if anyone actually had it serviced.

Ok cool..as it seems to be a common issue, I just couldn't imagine it being one that is acceptable by a luxury car standard. Guess a trip to dealer is in order.

Just got car back from dealer today. At first they said that movement was common, but the service manager said mine was more than usual and replaced the entire steering column. It's solid now, I'm very happy. They also replaced my driver seat cushion, as the side by the door was crushed down. All under warranty.

Have the same on my recently bought 2gen g35. It feels as though it is intentionally being triggered by the electronics. Good to know it is common/normal.
