I did a thread over on G35Driver on installing the Tanabe axle back exhaust years ago (process should be the same for your HKS axle back). Check out post #14 in the below thread and this may help with the install. It's really simple and the only took you will be is a 12mm socket or wrench for the two clamps.. the rest is literally plug'and'play. Feel free to send me a message if you have any questions. Good luck!

I'm looking into buying the F.I. Resonated Test Pipes for my g37x sedan to get some more growl and to add some gain. I've heard nothing but great things about F.I. and I love how they have the built in J-Bend to eliminate the CEL coming on. The one question I have is why do they give the option to have another o2 bung on either driver side/pass side/both sides? Do I need that? I want no CEL and I do need to pass emissions every 2 years. Anyone who isn't guessing I would appreciate all the help and advice. Also I have a Bully Dog Triple Dog GT Tuner, I'm new to the tuning world as far as electronics go, so question there is would I need to do a tune with that again afterwards?
thanks again for all the help

I know in most states where you have to pass an emissions test (i.e. sniffer) resonated test pipes won't pass. You "may" be able to pass with a set of high-flow CAT's, but I would check your local laws before modding if you're worried about emissions. Here in CA we have to pass both an emissions test and a visual inspection, so OEM CAT's are really the only thing that will pass in CA.

So... in NY, you either DIY the cats, or engage a mechanic who doesn't care about this incredibly stupid legislation, which only affects the tuner market, with statistically irrelevant impact on the environment, and legal loopholes that you can drive a truck through.
Actually, I don't know the laws about trucks, LOL

Well I got around to putting the HKS axle back on and it was easier than I thought, however...I did not get the 2 pipes tightly together....just need to play a little more? not to mention , even after I PB blasted the screw to one of the clamps, it snapped !...and some is still screwed in =/.......BUT it does sound pretty good =)

I had a grinder so I cut through the bolt and was able to use the bracket using a new(temporary) bolt...., I'll try and snap some picks, I'm wondering if I still have a minor leak or if the car is just getting used to it, I got a service engine light, I disabled the positive battery cable and it's gone
