I got mine from Concept Z Performance they had it in stock and shipping was fast.

Today, I got a chance to take the car around the block. Well, unless it gets better after a few hundred miles I am no longer as impressed. The sound isn't much different than stock. Very quiet actually, I really think it isn't any louder than stock. I did not get a chance to drive the car for a longer time and/or take it on the highway. All in all, I am satisfied at least it looks better than stock, but it just isn't loud at all. Maybe after I drive it for a while and a few hundred miles it will sound better. Will see..

Again does anyone know if replacing the Y-pipe with something else get the G37 any benefits in either sound and/or performance? Maybe in the spring I could get FI High flow cats to add a little more sound and HP.

RavensMinded00, I do have a garage but it is too small to work on the car with all the stuff I have in it. The install was done Saturday morning, it did not rain in mine part of town. .

It get louder bro....I have the same setup...I literally don't listen to music anymore on my way to work, all I do is put the car is sport mode and use the paddles to shift...so much fun. But to answer your question about impressed or not with the sound I know I felt the same way but now after break in period is over I am more than pleased. Hope this helps

MILcityBoi, hopefully you are right that after the break in it will sound better a little louder.

Drove 30 miles to work this morning, the one good thing at this point, there is very little drone. Only at 1500 rpm do I hear something and it can be barely heard. I don't usually don't drive in that rpm range anyway too much.

Other other thing I noticed is that the exhaust does sound pretty nice and deep but only until about 3000rpm. After that it doesn't seems to sound too different from stock.

So hopefully MILcityBoi is right and this will change a little.

Once you throw some HFCs in there it will get louder. I have the same setup with Berk HFCs and it's quite a bit louder than OEM

Did you get rasp w/ the HFCs? I'm wanting to try Fast Intentions Resonated Test pipes, but still on the fence.

Wait... They DO make RTPs for the sedan?

Also curious how taking out the stock cats changes tone. I really wouldn't want rasp.

The other idea I had, which I discussed with a muffler shop was creating a catback out of it. Remove the stock y pipe, remove the first section of the Top Speed with the resonators and create a new y pipe -> x pipe -> end section of the TS with the mufflers. It should free up the flow a bit via the x pipe and removes the resonators for more sound. Only problem is that my shop doesn't have a mandrel bender. Will that make a difference at these power levels? Probably not.
The cost all in was only 250, too...
Thoughts?

On FI's site they only list them for coupe, but Lance (1cleanG) who distributes FI pipes confirmed they indeed fit the sedan too

I did get a little bit of rasp with the Berks, I have a video of a 1st gear pull that I took with my GoPro (Berk HFCs and TopSpeed Y pipe back exhaust) Here's the link: https://vimeo.com/141574058

I can do another video through a few more gears but the wind noise might ruin the sound quality

Agreed.
I can't really make out the rasp in the video. Is it really subtle or is it just not really coming up in the recording?

I just about spit out my coffee when I realized he was backing up in the first 3/4 of that video. Too funny.

highly reccomended to swap out paper like gaskets you get from top speed with some quality ones. I got the ones from z1's website and the 2.5 bolt up perfectly. it changed it from stupid loud at all times to MUCH quieter. My hfc was making it super loud but now its perfect. the sound is completely behind me now. Best $14 ive spent on my car yet

Guess they've cut costs, my gaskets were decent.

I think the Top Speed sounds good, but as the OP describes, the sound is mostly in the low rpms. The deep sound goes away as the revs climb, but even the high revs, it is louder than stock.

I think fitment is just ok. I had to bend the muffler hangers to get the tips centered on my bumper. The exhaust also sits directly under a suspension bolt on both sides of the exhaust. When I hit harder bumps in the road, the exhaust flies up into these bolts and clanks. The sound is metal on metal and sounds like crap. Perhaps the X cars don't have these bolts in the same location. On the S sedan, I don't see where else to route the exhaust piping.
