Brad - What do you plan to use instead of the zip tie hold the boot? A stainless band? It needs something to secure it.

When I did mine I used a new zip tie. I would suggest setting it up so it can be easily cut, I just snipped it off again to install my **** conversion kit too.

Why not just secure it with a zip tie from under the boot? Pull it up over to where you want it tie wrap it and pull the boot back down. Viola!

I'm probably going to just tuck a thin amount of the boot under the upper edge of the tapered piece then screw the **** down tight against it.

xpcgamer, the problem w/ using a zip tie on the inside is that tapered bottom piece, if it starts sliding down that taper you'll end up losing the zip tie. You could go higher up on the ****, but the higher up you go the worse it looks IMO.

If my idea posted above doesn't pan out I could always use a thin black wire too, would be hardly noticeable.

I'll keep you posted.

For whatever reason the camera really brings out that lettering, it's very subdued in person. From the looks of it on their site, that black **** is letter free.

I am doing a run on black, red and blue finishes. They won't have any logo's. Thanks for posting all the images blnewt. I will post pictures of the different finishes when I have them.

This process seems quite harder than it looks

I wish there was a local shop that knew how to do this and I can just provide them with the ****.

It was a little tough since I didn't have any guidance, but now that my DIY is up it should be a piece of cake

I think all metal surface ***** get hot in the sun, and cold in the winter. I suspect that in zero-temp days this winter, the **** will be brutal to the touch.

I was curious on it transmitting heat from the tranny into your hand. Not so bad in a 7AT but should not feel to good in a 6MT since you are constantly grabbing it in traffic (No pun intended Please).
