Considering an R2C intake. Will it pass smog in NY?
I was thinking of getting an R2C intake for my sedan. From New York by the way. I'm due for an inspection at the end of the year and was wondering if it would pass an emissions inspection? If not, what options do I have regarding intakes that would pass.

New York doesn't sniff exhausts. They read codes off the ECU through the OBDC, and do a visual inspection for existence of catalytic converters. That's it. Besides, your intake isn't going to effect emissions anyway. That doesn't make any sense.

coming from the state of California - where CARB rules everything LOL - it's good to know that CAIs, HFC's are accepted on the east coast....BTW, getting 93 octane here is a plus as well....91 octane was the rating available in CA. got me thinking of more mods SMH.

I was pretty sure that CT used to sniff exhausts, so I just looked it up, and now it's just OBDC II and the Visual Inspection. Maybe they sniff older cars that predate OBDC, but probably not. It's a heck of an expensive prospect to force inspection stations to comply with something that's decades old.
