Looking for Annapolis Area G37 drivers

I am still convinced that my 2012 G37xS is not running correctly and lacks POWER for some reason. Any people on this board in the Annapolis Area that would be willing to take me on a short test drive so I can compare ?

Would greatly appreciate it.

I am doing a cylinder compression test on Wednesday but other than that I have no idea why my G37 feels slower than is should be. I remember test driving G37X's before my purchase and they all felt much quicker.

thanks for anyone willing to take me on a quick test drive in their car.

Tom

have you tried to reset your ecu ? Could be something simple as that or just dirty throttle bodies.

I will try to clean them this week when I am checking the compression on the cylinders.

I live in Pasadena. I think you would be best off doing an ECU reset and clean the throttle bodies as well. Don't know how much help I would be since I have performance parts on my car

What kind of mods do you have other than what is listed in the signature?

I am cleaning the tb today and also doing a compression check. 45,000 miles on the car. I will reset the ECU too..

I work in Annapolis and live in Baltimore County. But would still love to see if your car feels and pulls much better...

thanks,
Tom

Had some free time today and cleaned the throttle bodies, checked compression on the cylinders and reset the computer. The throttle bodies were fairly clean.

The compression in all 6 cylinders was 185psi.

Will see tomorrow if the car runs any better.

Car drives a little better. Now I am thinking that the transmission is the problem. It feels to me like it is always one gear to high. ..

Grab a stopwatch and post your 0-60 times. Make several honest runs. Averaging over 5 and a half seconds and you could have an issue.

Sounds like a good idea.. I have done this a few months back with my cell phone and torque best I got was 5.6 but a lot of runs were over 6.0 seconds.

You think the bigger & heavier 19" wheels of the xS model could cause the slower times. Usually from a standstill the acceleration isn't' too bad, it is terrible from around 20-30mph. It feels like transmission is down shifting a gear that is one too high.

Have not mentioned it to the dealer yet. I only bought the car end of December with 38,000 miles. Now at 45,000.

I do not know if the trans software was ever updated. I have the autoengenuity hardware and software on my laptop & will see if it is capable of reading software version from the trans.

Regarding software, read thru this 160+ page thread if you dare, but I don't believe a 2012 sedan has any transmission software TSB's. Earlier cars, yes.

https://www.myg37.com/forums/g37-sed...reprogram.html

Your xS should (I believe) have 18's, not sure if 19 inches was a typo? Either way, seems immaterial to your downshifting at 20-30MPH scenario. Hope you get it sorted.

OP,

just to throw it out there...have the air filters been looked at / changed? also the MAF sensors may need to be cleaned...not sure if you are experiencing any idle issues...

just some thoughts to hopefully get your car back in shape

let us know the progress...

FWIW, I called OC Infiniti to check my VIN (2012 G37X Sedan) for any TSB on the transmission updates, they confirmed that the 2012 wasn't involved...

Air filters are clean .. no idle issues.

Car is now running much better after I advanced the timing by +2 deg.

But I still think that it lacks the power from a dead stop until the about 10-15mph. Also when cruising at 20-35mph and trying to accelerate fast, it seems to be selection a gear to high and the acceleration is terrible.
