How do suppose this falls off?
So I changed my oil yesterday and discovered my emblem had fallen off. It wasn't lying in the under tray, so I hope it's not sitting near a belt.
Couldn't tell you when it happened. The emblem broke off all 4 studs. The missing stud in the photos was removed by me before taking the picture, and didn't come off with the Fuji.

Thanks for posting this. Mine fell off too on my '11. I have no idea when it happened and I do not see the emblem anywhere in the bay. I actually thought someone pulled it off, because the studs are still in there - it looks exactly like yours. But then I thought: the car had only been serviced at Infiniti, why would they want it? Searched around online and this has happened to others as well. It is quite puzzling.
What really sucks is that, as per my searches and other people's experiences, the emblem is not sold separately. We have to either replace the entire cover or deal with it.

OP, it's probably rattling around on your lower engine cover. Take it off and take a look. Or wait until you change your oil.
That is so strange. Even more so that it's not uncommon.

The VQ's produce a lot of heat. My guess is that over time the from the heat cycles the tape had deteriorated to the point it just let go. More than likely it is on the side of the road some where.

The lower cover was off the car and no emblem. If it hit a belt while falling through the engine bay, do you think a belt would have broken it without me even noticing? I'll take a closer look this week in the engine to see if it's lying in there somewhere.

Can you really not buy the emblem all by itself? I had a similar need years ago with my old Maxima; the engine cover emblem wasn't specified by Nissan's parts system, however for some reason it was on the 3.5L Altima.
My problem back then was the engine heat caused the chrome layer on the plastic to crack and buckle.

I checked out two threads with people experiencing this, and in both of the threads, people have contacted infiniti to find that the emblem is not available by itself. One poster did mention that this is actually covered under warranty. I may just take the car in to see what they have to say.

I've never seen the emblem itself, and it's a different size than any of the outside emblems. I've seen used (good condition) engine covers with emblem on ebay for about $50.
