This was interesting to read through all the stories that sound very similar to mine. I spent the better part of 3-4 months looking for this car in black or white basically anywhere in the U.S. At any given time there were maybe 5-10 available with the 6spd. and even fewer in white or black. I too had to look at the pictures because most of the cars listed with a 6spd. were actually automatic.

I had a lot of bad experiences with salespeople. Maybe I am sensitive to it because I work in the business. I have one guy raise his price, some not budge on pricing, and one dealer take a deposit to hold the car while I flew across country only to call me back to tell me they could not hold it?!?

From the beginning I noticed an overpriced white (my 2nd color choice) 2013 that had less than 18k miles and every accessory I wanted. As the months went on it got cheaper. After washing my wife's black Maxima last month I decided I wanted white instead. I called the dealer and we worked out a deal. Worth the wait.

Stick shifts popular again, despite lower gas mileage

In '11, MT was 3.8% of vehicles sold.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infini...C_2006-2015.29

And according to Wikipedia, Infiniti sold 58,246 Gs in 2011

So 58,246 x 3.8% = 2212, and that would be total Gs--coupe, sedan, and convertible. I'd guess coupes would have the highest take rate on MT (say 50% of that 2212) and then another 10% for 'verts, so my guess, is 40% of that number is 6MTs or about 900 cars.

Considering the G37 production numbers were pretty consistent, I'd say that guess covers all model years.

It looks like MT might hit 6% of new vehicles in '14

https://autos.yahoo.com/blogs/motora...194033483.html

But sadly, neither the G nor the Q offer a three pedal option anymore
Infiniti UK has wonderful looking Q50 in 6MT... I was surprised I couldn't find the 6MT models in Japan...

I think it's a tough niche. While the G is definitely a sports sedan/coupe, it seems that the perception is that Infiniti is a luxury boat.

Whereas others, like BMW, Audi, etc, have a rep as a sports sedan/coupe in the 1-5 series. Heck, Audi offers an S8 with a MT in Europe. Those are baddddd.

That's a 2.2 liter diesel that takes nearly 9 seconds to get to 60.

Isn't it bizarre how AutoTrader ads so frequently get the transmission wrong?!

I genuinely don't think it's intentional, just ignorant and lazy. In these cases, the person recording the entry is more often than not someone clerical, and knows nothing about the car, nor cares.

Forgot to add my other 2 cents,
I'm from Canada and I was looking for this car the for the entire past year... When I was looking for some there were two red fully loaded sedans with less than 70ooo miles on them... One was 07 there other 08, one in my city 2007, and an other one in Edmonton 2008, about two hours away from Calgary. Price was good to be honest 13 grand for 07 and 17 for 08. The 2007 wasn't one for no more than 1 week. The 08 had a price drop to 14 and got sold. (This prices are in CAD btw)
Mine, which I got it about two months ago is a 09 pearl white with 60 000 miles, it has only the sport pkg and paid about 12 000 USD. (16.5 cad)

Got into a bumper accident (2000 CAD) and car used to run ok until delearship used regular oil in the car.

I absolutely concur -- it just amazes me that there are still people who can't tell the difference, clerical, sales or otherwise.

I stumbled across my black '09 6spd S sedan by chance. Some clown hit me and totaled my Cobra, so while that got sorted out I casually looked around and window shopped other mustangs, STI's, and bimmers for a couple months. My basic criteria for my next car was that it had to be fast/"fast-ish" and stick. Once I got paid out I nearly pulled the trigger on a 335 6spd coupe, but found a couple of things that I didn't like so I passed.

The next day at work I stumbled across mine on autotrader. It was at a local Ford dealer but the listing didn't have a picture. It had the stock photo of an ugly champagne colored one, and after scrolling thru a bunch of other high mileage g37's in the high teens, I clicked on it just for the hell of it. In the description it said it was a 6spd so I said screw it, the dealer is on my home from work so I'll stop by to see it.

Long story short I was impressed with the interior, it was actually stick shift(and not tiptronic haha), and it only had 31,500 miles. So I left later that day with it.

So many of these story's sound so familiar. I started looking for a 6sp sedan around March of this year.
I sold my TT 370z a few years ago and I've been itching to get back into a VQ but I need four doors now. (Damn kids)
I looked all over the country since my job allows easy travel. I did make it more difficult on myself because I wanted only red or white exterior with black interior.
Had the same issues with mis labeled descriptions of "Manual Transmission".
I did find a few but they were asking a premium price or they were a mess.
In early May I finally found a beautiful 2012 Vibrant Red S Sedan with 37k miles and made a deal for $23.9.
Best part was it was only 275 miles away.
They are rare but if you're patient you can find a good one.... At least for now since they aren't making any more.

The question is to the rarity of the G37S 6MT Sedan. And the correct answer is that they are becoming less rare year over year on the used car market. Not a common car at all, no one is denying that. And as a new car, that ship has sailed. But the reality here is opposite of what you just wrote.
