Does it cost $100 more from the manufacturer, or is that the street price? If just the street price, then you have to apply free-market capitalism and realize that an item is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it.

I can't see anyone selling the grilles for more than what the dealer would charge...so that's your baseline. Anything other than the dealership would be considered alternative supply chain. So once we're in this area, prices follow supply/demand models more closely.

If you consistently sold the coupe grille for $300, but had trouble selling the sedan one for $300, you would start lowering the price of the sedan one until it sold. Infiniti may even have adopted this approach. Again, this is why I asked if it's priced this way from the factory, or if that's just what the alternative vendors are selling them for.

I've noticed this $100 price increase many times. I don't understand the heavy price increase either.

I'm partial to Rochester style (will post picture later -- on mobile). But Rochester style on CMod sounds amazing (I like mesh).

I'm having mine painted to mimic the midnight grill. Gloss black the color you guys think I should go with? Don't worry my paint guy uses top quality clear coat and I had him add in a few extra coats of clear into the estimate. $80 btw to take it out, sand, paint, clear, n install

I don't think it matters. As long as the quality is good, without any orange peel, then black is black. You might want a hint of metallic in it.

Only $80, and you're not even removing the grille yourself? That's much more than fair.

I sanded, painted, buffed, polished my Impul grill myself and it was kinda a PITA. A good learning process though so when I did my spoiler I wouldn't make as many mistakes. I think for $60 savings ($20 in products) it was worth it.

Thanks for the tip John. Hey what do you think about painting in black chrome? Keeping the midnight grill look but painting the black portion black chrome.

I think that would be fine. A detail that's personal, and something you would appreciate. Almost like applying Night Shade on the existing chrome... which is something you could very, very easily try yourself.

I appreciate the credit, but it's not mine to take. Got the idea two years ago from another member here on the forum. The only thing I did different was keep the Fuji face chrome. Here's the thread:

https://www.myg37.com/forums/build-t...ld-thread.html

The OP started it as a build thread, and I shamelessly whored the conversation into the grille .
