Has any one changed their car battery yet?

I'm thinking of changing my car battery before winter arrives. I've had my 2010 G37x for 4.5 years. It only has 30k on it. I usually only drive on the weekends for about 100-150 miles.
I had my mechanic check my battery and he said it's still good. But I don't wanna get caught guard and it dies out on me. I've read around online that car batteries should be changed before 5 years. I'm planning on changing it on my own since I saw a DYI on YouTube . What brands or type should I purchase? Any suggestions? Thanks.

I put in an Optima Yellow top about three weeks ago. Fit perfectly, no problems, looks nice. Works well with my audio system. Amazon has the cheapest price on it, at $169, but I got mine locally from Advance. This is the one that I put in:

On my previous 06 G35 when I priced batteries the dealer was only $20 higher so I had it replaced there. Everything worked when they were done.
I also had them install a 900CCA battery vs the 550CCA battery that comes with the car
If you keep your vehicle outside on the street and only use it once a week you may want to consider a higher rated battery as well.
I lived in Queens many years ago

I rebuilding a totaled '11 G37XS Sedan for my wife. Amongst the things stolen at Copart was the battery. The local Infiniti dealer had the best battery price I could find at $110. Even with the current coupon code Advance was $130.

I've had batteries last for 8 years, so why change it if it's still good. Don't throw your money away. If your car won't start one day, get a charge and then go out and buy a new battery.

I've had mine replaced by the dealership while under warranty. I took the car in for another reason and they checked the battery and said it needed to be replaced.

2011 G37x. The battery was a little over 3.5 years old.

In my old car however I only changed the battery when it was on its last legs. 5+ years of use or longer.

i changed mine after ~5 years to a Optima red top. noticed slower cranks, and if i didn't drive it for a few days it would almost not start. the red top has lightning quick cranking. tons of juice. hopefully it holds up.

Did you need a height adapter for the Optima Red Top? Online stores had notes under the description that it was needed for the installation.

Just changed battery on wife's 2009 yesterday. Did it myself, only took like 10 minutes tops, easiest job there is other than changing air filter. Also advanced auto parts gives 20% discount if you order online and use code EXCM4, you still pick it up from the store, just get additional 20% off.
