Z1 HFC Review

Hey everyone. I'm mostly a lurker on the website but try to add to the community when I can. I was reading through multiple forums regarding HFC's (high flow catalytic converters) and saw someone mention the Z1 HFC and decided to give them a shot. There isnt alot of information about them so I figured I would do a review for our sedan guys looking for different options.

The price was very reasonable and Z1 seems to have a pretty good reputation with the 370z guys. The quality seems good, the welds look very solid and the kit came with everything needed. Anyways I have a few pictures that I can add now since they were delivered today. I will try to install them this weekend and update with some before and after videos with my stock exhaust.

So today I had the cat's installed. I was going to do the work myself but after seeing how bad the condition of the existing bolts were I caved and had the professionals handle it. After 4 hours and alot of time behind the torch the Cat's were in and I was on my way. The first start up sounded good with a noticeable extra growl and depth of sound but nothing crazy. Once I was on my way I can only describe the sound with two words. Rasp City. Very disappointed in how much Rasp is present. Im hoping its just a matter of something being loose or the seals need time to expand cause I have no patience for this sound. Can anyone else fill me in if I can expect the Rasp to get better?

What's the cell-count on the catalyst material?

And are you worried about throwing a code with those shorty O2 connectors?

300 CPSI.

If you look in the first picture, they provided extended 02 bungs (on the left).

Looking forward to your review as well. I've been on the fence on these for a while. There's another member on here, AMNQ (hope that's his correct username), that also has these on his sedan.

one big point that I considered was the price

can I justify the FI HFC being over $100 more than the Z1?
also I don't know if that's a fair comparison since its a coupe vs sedan and resonated vs non resonated.

I personally believe the coupe and sedan sound nothing alike stock for stock and even with aftermarket catbacks

The coupe Vs Sedan is a null and void as the exhaust systems are exactly the same, I took my coupe Exoticspeed catback and put it on my sedan,
So the only difference is the the Z1's not being resonated.
