Window Tinting - Rear Window Too?

Hi Folks - new member here just picked up a new 2013 G37 Journey Sedan.

I want to get a quick read on what you all do to your rear window when you tint. I can go 35% in NC.

Do you folks get your rear window tinted too when doing the doors? If so, do you go with the same percentage tint or something clearer?

Thanks much!

I have 20% all around with a 5%front strip. What weird is my last car an Altima figuring same amount of window space I had 20% back have and 35% on front 2 doors and couldnt see for crap. I went to a different place I guess he used better tint.

I did 20% all around. It looks darker because of the black interior.

California law allows you to tint as dark as you want on the passenger and back windows. Front two windows can't have any film. But everyone here in CA has done all around.

I have 35% all around and the darkest they had available on my moonroof. I've had several cars done at Sun Stoppers and they have always done a good job.

Thanks. I've been there too - the one on Hwy 29 in Concord - had four of my cars done there. i haven't been there since they started calliong it Sun Stoppers. The one car i did the the rear window on - i hated. The view out the back was never crystal clear.

I was thinking of going to Pro-tint in Kannapolis this time. Any knowledge of that place?

thanks again.

I dont have any issues seeing out the back. The only car I ever had a problem with was my Trans Am, because the hatch glass is huge. I just keep taking it back until they got it right.

Haven't heard of pro tint, but I'm a bit further south. Charlotte INFINITI recommends sun stoppers, I used the one off of 74. They did my Legacy GT as and MDX, as well as reapplying my clear bra after the fender bender.

Same here, except stone interior so it looks lighter

IMO if the tint doesn't match all around (barring windshield, leave that alone), it looks awkward, esp if you left the back untinted

My windshield and front-door windows are un-tinted, whereas the back-door and rear window have 3M tint on them. IDK what the tint % is, because that's how I bought the car, but it's pretty dark, and nearly impossible to see inside.

When buying the car like that, my plan was to either remove the tint, or have the two front windows done up to match. But I quickly came to like the arrangement because of visibility from the driver's seat, and a sense of confidence (BS?) that traffic cops will give me a pass when the front windows aren't blacked out. Also, I came to appreciate the look as something unique and VIP, so it's a keeper.

Technically, in NY the only vehicles that can tint the side windows are limos, trucks and SUV's... not so with passenger cars. Apparently in New York, you can go 100% opaque on the rear window, which is kind of odd. Every state is different.
