Can I safely drill holes in bottom of large bumper beam.

Trying to mount a 24" light bar behind the lower grill of my 2012 XS sedan.
I am fabricating steel mounts, and there is almost no metalic surfaces to attatch to, other than the large beam.
I have seen pics of Turbo installs, that show devices, mounted to the top of the beam, but nothing on the bottom.
Need Help !! Jerry

Sure, why not?

Please post pics of the light bar you mount after it's done. I'm pretty sure nobody's ever done anything like this on a a G37. Should be interesting.

Lightbar install

Thanks Guys, I was just worried about poss. wiring or impact sensors that might be lurking inside that beam.
I will take a bunch of pics., but it will be a simple install. 4 mounting bolts, 4 helicoils, and about 5' of wire and a ground. I am going to tie into the highbeam circuit. So poss. a little bigger fuse.
Cant wait for the extra 9000 lumens!!!, and its allmost invisable in the daylight
Thanks, Jerry

I'm subscribed to this thread for the finished product. I'm a volunteer fireman and was considering doing this for my strobe lights, but have had the same concerns as you. Good luck!

Hi Black Betty, Did some searching, on this site, for the poss. of tieing into the high beam circuit, with my LED light bar.
Yes it would blind oncoming traffic. But there are allready laws against your high beams, being on, when there is oncoming traffic.
Any Idea on how to set it up? 2012 g37xs
Need Help !! Thanks Jerry

If your question was directed to me, no I don't have the faintest clue how to do something like this. It's not something I'd ever contemplate doing to this car. Can't help you on that. But I'm sure there must be others here who think its a great idea and might be able to advise you on it.

Hidden Light Bar. Lights up the world. WOW !!!!!!

Sorry for not getting back sooner. I have been very busy, with a new project, and the light bar went on hold. Bought a tube frame, exact replica, of the original Lotus 7. I am going to base the drivetrain and suspension on a Honda S2000. At close to 1100 lbs it should make a great A/X and track day car.
Back to the light bar. Its completed and all I can say is WOW !!!!! I live at 4000' el. in No. CA foothills, and most of my driving, is on rural roads. Lots of deer and a few, Very hard to see, Black Bears. This light is astounding!!!!, and you cant even see it, until you hit the high beams.
I will post some pics., and a complete step by step install guide, next weekend.
Thanks, Jerry

That sounds great! Very eager to see the pictures and your step by step. Wow that's a great setup for A/X, any pics on that as well? Thanks again.
