I want to install a dashcam. They can be had for pretty cheap from ebay.

My question is, where to tap into power as i want to make it more or less hidden?

I am not too familiar with g37's layout in terms of all the wiring, can anyone recomment a place that is fairly easy to reach? They come with 12v cigaratte light adapter, but i want to make it hidden.

Its a lease so I cant do too much splicing and dicing

powered rear view mirror? thats what i tapped into to power my radar detector.

Have you guys actually tapped into the rearview mirror power? Isn't that 12V? My dashcam is powered through the cigarette lighter, which converts 12V to 5V. Also, it has a fuse inside. Were you able to just directly tap into 12V without ruining anything? If so, I may do that. Thanks!

However that harness is specific to a radar detector. I got a micro usb 12V to 5V cable but it just has wire ends I need the right contacts to plug into the mirror harness. There was another thread with part number for some Radio Shack electrical pins but I can't find it anymore. (edit: think they're called d-sub pins)

I originally tried tapping my mirror with a home-made inviscord, but i just couldn't get the pins in fearing i'd f' up the connector. In the end up i just tapped right behind the cig lighter adding a usb port.

The 2 I got were Very cheap

So cheap I sent them back

What camera are you looking at?
