With those tubes you're already about a third of the way toward the price of a short-ram intake, this will give you the mean VQ sound. I love my SRI, cost about $280. Although the stock tubes aren't as pretty

Installed the Mishi tubes. Can't tell a bit of difference, but whateves, they were a gift. =D. Engine bay looks much nicer though.

I was looking at my old air box components this morning after someone commented in that hood liner thread about intake noise, and remembered your thread here about these Mishimoto Intake Tubes, so I'm bumping it with info. One of the OEM flex-tubes has a 4-inch resonator hanging below it like a big, plastic tumor. I suspect removal of this resonator is why you hear a change in engine noise.

Nope no change. I have these tubes installed and they sound just like stock, no noticeable different in sound.

Looks like my G37xS is "SPECIAL"

Everyone I know who has heard my intake tells me that it has changed the note with the Mishimoto intake tubes and additional change with the aFe Pro S dry drop-in filters.
Can it be that they are all wrong?

If you have an aftermarket exhaust then I can understand...but with stock there should be a difference in sound & performance.

I'm not saying that it will be as drastic as an open air intake, but due to the air flow being less restricted then there will be an improvement over stock.

Both the Mishimoto & the aFe's contributes to this result.

This is only "my" results...others may vary.

Yea I dunno - I have the same setup with the AFE's, but didn't notice any significant sound change.

Well I just had to find out for myself, picked up a set of Z1 tubes on ebay today. We shall see if they make a difference or if dragion's G is really special.

First, why not dyno?

Second, why not time the 0-60?

Because even when assuming these things are an actual "power" mod, the measurable change would be so negligible as to not matter.

The math seems to be:
at 60mph, you are traveling 88feet/second. The g37 is 15.66'.
88/15.66=5.6194
1second/5.6914'=0.1779seconds per car length.
So, half a car length is around 0.1779/2=0.0889 seconds.

All things being equal, it means you are now doing 0-60mph 0.1 seconds quicker

I thought id chime in this thread ive had my post maf for over 2 months now i bought a hps one not the mo****o and there was most D-E-F-I-N-I-T-E-L-Y a slight change in sound and exhaust note. The car seems suprisingly faster in hot weather conditions and yes im sure this will increase hp but to a minimal extent if you notice here on the pic below the oem restritive intake has a blank plastic container stuck at the buttom when i took a look at it there was nothing inside this was holding back some hp. I also have a k&n drop in filter.

None taken John.

I know that there are intakes that can actually cause HP loss, but people will install them just for the look & sound.

All I know is that my decision to add the Mishimoto/aFe combo has been a plus for me...an improvement is still an improvement, even if it is just slight!
