LOL who said there is no transmission? You must think the 7 gears are integrated into the engine ...

There is no torque converter....Transmission is still there lol.

I wish the Q50 came with a Head up display like the F30 has.

They want change because BMW put a tiny overdrove 4-banger in their bread and butter driving machines. It must be the best if BMW decided to do so. The Sheeple ignore the fact that Evo and STI had power plant of this kind that made more HPs for more than a decade, and even BMW is sourcing Mitubishi's turbo charger. I applaud Infiniti has its way to do things at lease for now, instead of jumping on the insane Break My Wallet trend. But with this Audi guy, I don't know how long they are able to stay their course.

I still have a lot of fondness for the first generation VQ30DE that I have in my A32 Maxima. But people always want change. Except for the changes to the body that they hate because it looks like a Hyundai. I mean Lexus. I mean Audi. Or changes to the name to indicate a different direction of the brand for the future because Q50 is so confusing. What the hell kind of car company names a car a letter plus a number? That change is horrible. And for the love of God do not incorporate the very latest cutting edge technology into the car because I will be overwhelmed and confused by it. I will be intimidated into feeling that the car is doing more of the driving than I am or I will be too stupid to use it responsibly and I'll drive off a cliff from not paying attention to my driving. Just put a 750 HP twin turbo in there that gets great mileage and never breaks down and don't increase the price and everything will be just fine! Oh, and you have to call it a Skyline. Damn, how hard is that Infiniti! Are you listening???

I love BB's sensical sarcasm. Point very well made

It's pretty clearly stated that it has a 7 speed automatic transmission. Nowhere ever has CVT been mentioned anywhere that I'm aware of until this post. The design chief in the video simply stated that it has direct hybrid drive and doesn't have a torque converter. I can't see any way that can be interpreted as anything but a good thing.

Maybe I'm missing something.?
The hybrid idk, an electric motor doesn't need a torque converter since its not a regular set up. I don't drive hybrids so , don't have any interest in them.
Maybe 10 years from now.
How do you have an automatic transmission with no torque converter?
I know for a fact it's no dual clutch/dsg/SMS type, so how can it not have a tq convert.?
The gas powered one, not the hybrid.

It hasn't even been a week and we already got people saying Infiniti is doomed, they have failed, the new q50 won't sell, the Audi guy is going to drive them into the ground and Yadi Yoda.

Would one of you guys give me Saturdays power ball numbers since you know so much about the future with the 15 mintue video you watched and 1000 word press realse you read 4 days ago.

Chill out, we got months before we know any more details, the car doesn't come out for at least 6 more months.

You'd have to ask Mr. Takahasi because I'm certainly no power train engineer like he is and not particularly knowledgable about hybrids either. But that's what he said at 1:34 of the video. Perhaps that was referring only to the electric motor? I don't know. Didn't seem so to me. I do know for a fact it's not CVT as you mentioned as a possibility. I'll find out details when everybody does. But I don't need to wait 10 years though.

Hybrid will not have a cvt. I like all the people who still think this is a prius hybrid type vehicle lol.
