I lied, it's a flowmaster y pipe.

I wish they just cut it to make it even and have two identical pipes connecting it to the rest of the exhaust but still way better than my 3" y pipe connecting to the 2.5" Topspeed inlet. The flowmaster is a much smoother/freer flowing section than what Topspeed made.

Nah but they're the standard rolled tips that come on the Topspeed exhaust.

I wish I would have found your posts earlier. I searched for hours online and on this forum... What effect would a 3" collector y pipe feeding into a 2.5" inlet midpipe have on the sound or performance?

So just to confirm the circled piece below is 2.5"

and Topspeed's y-pipe is 3" where it feeds into the midpipe

Here's a thread w/ a couple guys that have added the 3" collector Ys to their TopSpeeds
https://www.myg37.com/forums/g37-sed...39-y-pipe.html
FWIW the TopSpeed Y should be the same as the Y from Megan Racing.
You might want to PM those guys that have done this for more info.

What I don't get is how Topspeed would build parts for the same car that don't match up (3" outlet from their y-pipe to 2.5" at their midpipe).

It is strange, but for whatever reason that's all that's available now that Exhaust Depot no longer exists. I'm as mystified as you

Anyone confirmed if the topspeed Y-pipe bolts up directly to the topspeed Midpipe?
"Rob145" looks like he did a manzo Y-pipe to the topspeed mid, I imagine they have the same diameters?

Was there any final consensus whether the Top Speed Y-pipe actually matches up to the midpipe, or is it a 3.0-2.5 reduction at that connection?

Just added the 3" Y to my topspeed, (I also have resonated test pipes) and drone didn't increase, just a small rpm window of rasp from 2800 to 3000 rpm, and it's just a slight hiss in the cabin. If it gets worse over time I think I would take the Topspeed mid pipe to a shop and have them put a 3" flange and a 3" pipe tapered down to 2.5" to smooth the transition.
