Annoying center console trim piece creaking noise

anyone else notice a creaking, squeaking noise coming from the center console? like there is not enough lubricant to smooth and deafen the sound out. it is so freaking annoying, especially when i make turns in the corners. Anyone know how to fix this?

If it's anything like mine, the culprit would be the seat belt hinges. I sprayed some WD40 on them and the creak/squeak is gone. Give it a shot and see if it helps.

If its the center console lid itself, the area making the noise may be the hinge. There's 4 screws holding it on. I used a tiny bit of lithium greas on the threads of each screw. I also sprayed a little silicone lubricant onto the hinge and onto the top and bottom of the flat part of the lid that attaches to the main body of the console.

Mine only creaks when I put my arm on the console lid. It seems to be coming from the area where the two little pads are on the plastic that the console lid rests on. It's not very solid...it gives some and the plastic creaks.

I'm not sure what area of the console this creaking is from.
Is this an AT or MT console?
When I had my 07 AT sometimes the seat rubbed against the side of the console making an annoying squeek/creak.
My Sport seats don't touch the console so no problem.

i don't have a creak, but a rattle in the center console. It comes on sometimes when driving over rough roads. If i bang on it with my hand, it goes away. sounds like a screw or clip loose inside.

my 08 6MT's center console faceplates creaked like hell! just pushing against them with your finger would cause them to creak everywhere.
The 07 5AT I drive now doesn't have the same problem oddly. I think perhaps you need more of the velvet tape behind it to cushion it...

I have this sound that has been coming from what I think is the passenger seat, but now I am thinking the seat beat or console. It is extremely loud and kind of sounds like two styrofoam cups rubbing together. Is the the same sound everyone was having?

That's a pretty good description of the sound I hear too. Mine is very subtle, but the sound of a couple styrofoam cups is pretty spot on. I don't notice it as much once the car is warmed up and the temp inside the car is warmer. It is annoying though.

This is an easy fix - my car was making the same noises whenever I rested my arm on the arm rest. Go to Home Depot and pick up a sheet of little rubber door stoppers that you stick on kitchen cabinet doors so the doors don't make noise when closed.

Open the center console, take two of the little circle door stoppers and put one on each area where the console door touches the center console when closed. These stoppers prevent the door from pressing down on the hinge (which is what is causing the creak noise), and you will be completely noise free.

Good luck
