Akebono Caliper HELP!!!!

G37 gods...

i need help.......(and yes, i've searched)....

1) Does anyone know what the color code for the stock Akebono's are?

2) Does anyone know if the stock Akebono's are powder coated? or are they painted?

3) Anyone get ROCK CHIPS on their Akebono's?

So a few weeks ago, I book an appointment with Infiniti asking them to do some warranty work....and yesterday was my appointment and i had to bring my car in....well considering it was a very nice day, i decided to wash my car before i brought it in for the appointment....when i was detailing my wheels/calipers...i noticed a chunk of paint missing on the driver caliper!!!! i'd say it was about 5-6mm in diameter....i was choked....then i went to the passenger side...AND SAME THING!!!!!! now i have 2 calipers (only fronts) that have paint missing...and i really don't want to repaint them any other color besides the factory since i like the metallic color....

so yesterday was sunday, and no one was there, so today i decided to give them a call and ask them to take a look at the caliper...and they said to me..."oh, it looks like rock chips....it's not covered under warranty...it's wear and tear"....i would understand if the rock chip was on the hood or the bumper, yea, it wouldn't be covered...but on a freakin caliper??? how many calipers have u seen have rock chips on them? and another thing is that i inspected the rims as well, and not a single scratch anywhere to be seen....my other friend suggested that maybe the caliper expanded too much and the chip flaked off?? i dunno....anyone else have this problem? please tell me i'm not alone...last but not least....Infiniti is saying they won't replace it....should i fight for it and write a letter to Infiniti Canada?

any help would be appreciated....

edit: my car has a little over 6000km's on it....washed once a week, never smoked in (and i love smoking)....that should tell u how much i love this car

They are powdercoated. I'd try looking for fingernail paint that matches.. that's what I did with mine, but mine are powdercoated a different color

if it's powder coated...shouldn't it be a stronger finish than ur traditional paint?? meaning that it would have to be one hell of an impact for it to chip like that....

I have seen lots of these calipers close up. Most of them have scratches or chips in the finish. Mine do too. It's not something that is covered by any type of warranty. If you find a really god match for touch up. post it here for all of us to use. Good luck.

first of all RELAX! LOL.

I have the same on my calipers too, same spot as on the 2nd pic. Doesnt really bother me. Good thing you found it before you turned it in, or else you might blame the dealer.

Yeah, let us know when you find a color match.

I had a chip in mine before I PC'd them. But stupid me did it taking the wheel on and off. You have to be very careful anytime you take the wheels on or off. I am dreading going in for the safety inspection......

Are you guys sure the OEM calipers are PC'd? When i sanded mine, it came off rather easily just as paint would.

no luck on the color code...how that system works is that the scanner will scan the color, and send it to the paint computer in the paint booth, and it'll tell u how many parts of what colors to mix....but it doesn't give u a code or anything....and even if i were to get a color code, i couldn't use automotive bodypaint since that type of paint cannot handle the type of heat the caliper produces, the paint would literally melt off...

and yes, it's powder coated....
