Regional Service Requirements

There have been a few threads lately discussing necessary intervals for service on the G37. These threads mostly discuss the 3,750 v. 7,500 mile intervals.

Just for kicks, I went on Infiniti's website and checked out requirements in other countries. Here's a sampling of what I found:
  • Infiniti UK: Service every 9,000 miles or 12 months (typo states 3k miles, but service schedule is 9k miles)
  • Infiniti Dubai: Service every 5,000 km (3,100 or so miles)
  • Infiniti Switzerland: Service every 15,000 km or 12 months (9,320 miles)
  • Infiniti France: Same as Switzerland
  • Infiniti Oman: Service every 5,000 km (3,100 or so miles)
  • Infiniti Turkey: Service every 15,000 km or 12 months (9,320 miles).
In all cases, the 3.7 liter engine is available or standard, and follows these service intervals. I know climate counts for something, but I was pretty surprised to see 9,000+ mile service intervals as standard in some countries. I suspect this has a lot to do with competing with other brands, and political/cultural expectations (and oil costs!!). The desert/arid countries have the most aggressive (lowest milage) service schedules.

Just FYI for those interested.

IMO, this has to do with the air quality, gas quality, and the type of oil used. Here in China the interval is 10,000KM. But I do it every 5,000KM with regular oil. One thing you might not realize is that the air here is probably hundreds of times dustier than Switzerland.

EU laws followed German standards and went to longer oil change intervals
which are typically once a year for the sake of environmental conservation.
You will find the EU spec machines also have a larger oil capacity and different
oil spec'. Mercedes standardized their oil capacities regardless of where the
car is sold....they take at least 10 quarts of oil. BMW does the same
for the German built machines they export. I'm not sure about the last
two model years from Porche, Audi, Volkswagen export models but know
the Euro spec models typically hold about twice the amount of oil as the
same older us spec models.
