Disappointed with handling
Does anyone else agree with me that the g37 coupe is not at all impressive around the corners?
This is the first 2 door car I've ever owned and so I was expecting it to handle better than my previous cars. I was wrong, and it's kind of saddening.
I've owned a 96 Maxima, 03 g35, and 07 g35, all stick sedans. And I swear the maxima was the best handling car! I had 17" rims with good rubber and a rear sway bar and I swear it handled better than my brother's 95 supra! I'm serious.
But anway, I always thought the G coupe looked like it can take turns well, and I'm really shocked at how wrong I was.
I will be ordering some sway bars soon. Can anyone with sway bars share their feedback? Thanks guys

I have not driven a G37xS so I can't say. My personal experience with G37S doesn't exactly reflect yours. I owned a 03 G35 sedan 6MT for 10 years and can confidently say the G37S is a much better handling car stock vs stock. Chassis rigidity has improved a ton from its predecessor. I have also had the pleasure of owning the 90 300ZX /w adjustable Tokico dampers and an 90 Maxima for some time. Both are not better handling cars.
Not to say that the G37 is the best handling car ever. I've driven in a whole host of better and worse handling cars in my life. The G37 is somewhere in the middle in stock form. The best handling cars I've personally driven in stock form were the S2K and the Lotus Elise. These are super light cars that the G37 will never be. That's why I've upgraded my suspension to get close.
TL;DR: Would love to hear your thoughts after installing sway bars and sticky summer tires.

The comparison to the Maxima doesn't seem like an apples to apples comparison because of the tires and rear sway bar. I wouldn't even begin to know where to start since we don't know what condition your G is in. Is it stock? What kind of tires are on there? Are they worn? What condition is your suspension in? You get where I'm going here.

I hear you man, but I am just shocked that a 17 year old Maxima with rims and sway bar felt tighter than my G coupe.

well seeing that the curb weight on the maxima is a touch over 3k lbs, i am not surprised its handled better even in stock form. Your 13 g37xs weights a little over 3800 lbs. 800 lbs is hard to get around a corner.

i also have a '13 xS coupe.
coming from an Evo X (MR, with the factory Bilstein struts / Eibach springs), i never felt that the G was lacking in handling. in fact, i was surprised how well it did handle compared to the smaller, lighter Evo (which was named best handling car under $40k by Car and Driver. even beat the go-kart Miata).

I don't have an x so I can't comment on some aspects of chassis dynamics that are affected by the front differential. In 2wd form, the chassis is vey capable and easy to drive near the limit. I now drive with the VDC off most of the time.
There are a few things I think hamper the stock handling. First, it's a balance between ride quality, NVH and grip/handling. I think most of the G line is undersprung which is why swats make such a difference. I also think it's under tired too, especially at the front.
In your case, with that many miles, alignment is probably off. The Khumos aren't going to have nearly as much stick as a max performance tire either and your stock shocks are now at less than optimal. Better rubber and larger sways with an alignment will make a big difference. Higher spring rates and matching dampers will take it even further. I'd do IPL or Eibach sways first with an alignment and see how you feel about it then.

Order yourself a 370 rear sway bar, start there, if not happy then hotchkis F/R.
Most have been happen with g37s/370z rear sway bar, and drop the vehicle a tad on swift springs and I think that will provide significant improvement on a stock setup.
Others mentioned tires..huge part of the equation!
