"New" Stillen Gen3 install question
I don't think this question has been posted yet but I'm about to purchase the gen 3's and would like to install it myself. I'll appreciate it more and find it more rewarding! (Or I'll just give up and pay someone)
I believe I have a "new" installation question and yes I did search a lot, that's how I noticed that everyone who has this intake has the hole cut bigger than it needs to be. I've seen some pretty clean cuts and some not so clean cuts but why the bigger diameter? Just easier to fit the bent tubing in? I would think it should be as snug as possible so it cant bang around due to vibration. I know it wont be perfectly snug but that gap though? Or maybe the pipes get too hot and will melt the plastic? Will that thermal adhesive be good enough to protect the plastic?
This may be a stupid question, but I'm sure someone has asked this but was afraid to get flamed...
Thanks guys!

"New" Stillen Gen3 install question
Yes. This question has been answered many times. No I won't blast you. Someone else might.
Gen3 intake pipes simply cannot fit through the hole. They have to be widened to fit. Whether you cut the hole big, or just right, that's upon your discretion. The only concern with these intakes are how they rest on the ac lines on the driver side. At least make that hole snug and wrap the piping so soften the contact between the two. If you don't, you stand a chance of getting a hole in your ac lines and that is not a cheap easy fix.
Happy modding.

When I did mine, I just shoved the pipes through. It's pretty hard plastic so you might want to have a power tool handy. The pipe does rest on the AC line but they give you 3/8 rubber tubbing that's already split and fits perfectly over the lines.

There is a dealer near me that sells Stillen products, and this is why I seriously might spend the extra dough and have them install it. I just gotta see if they will install and warranty it if I provide the intakes. There is a local set for pretty cheap....

Thanks for that tip. I was dreading having to cut a hole and hope it worked and if not cutting it some more.
