Hello all!

I just bought a 2011 G37x Coupe that I will be picking up on Monday. Being that this is the first time I own a coupe, I'm kind of clueless when it comes to most things

I live in Minnesota, which means it snows almost 8 months of the year. And if it doesn't snow, there's typically ice on the ground. I know that the AWD gives me better control of the car, but I'm also looking at purchasing new all season tires. Does anyone have any recommendations?

If you want the best control for all situations, get a set of dedicated winter tires and a set of summer tires.

Dont cheap out... buy a set of dedicated summers and a set of dedicated winter tires. End of thread.

Well I live in New Jersey where it doesn't snow 8 months of the year but we do get substantial snow storms an occasional blizzards.



This photo was taken shortly after purchasing a set Michelin Pilot AS3 tires.
They got me home fine but not up my un-plowed driveway with over 8 inches of snow. I still have them and they are a great tire. Not cheap but a great tire IMHO.

Stupid question, if you own dedicated season tires, do you change them yourself or take them to a tire shop to do it for you? Just seems like a lot of work, or money if you take it to a shop. (Yes I'm a newbie)

It's 50 bucks 2 times a year to have them swapped each season. That's not a lot of money.

If you buy two sets of wheels and tires instead of just tires itll be as simple as swapping wheels in your drive way.

I swapped my OEM wheels for 20" ones and summer tires. I still have OEM wheels with the all-seasons they came with(worked fine last winter), but this winter I'll be wrapping them in snow tires. Having 2 sets of wheels & tires it's obviously easy to make the switch. I'm assuming many on here do the same, and that's probably why they're telling you to buy dedicated winter & summer tires.

I swap my own in the driveway twice a year, spend an hour or two changing them and taking a look at everything under there.
