Dashboard Melting and Sticky on 2008
My dash just started doing this. It's got something sticky on it that can't be cleaned with a wet rag. I always just clean it with wet rag as dealer suggested.
The melting/sticky is worse near the window and defroster vents.
I did a search a found a few posts but no solutions.
Anyone else have this problem? I"ll post a picture tommorrow if I can get one shot.
I haven't contacted the dealer yet.

I just read a post about this same issue on g35driver... you might want to give it a read. Seems like it might be starting to become a common issue with these cars as they get older. Which sucks because obviously it's a major issue when your dashboard melts. Definitely should not be happening in a 6 year old luxury car. Or for that matter, this kind of thing shouldn't even happen in a 15 year old economy car. I remember when dashboards cracking used to be a huge issue. It seems like this is the equivalent for the materials used in todays cars.
If I were you, I'd try to keep the sun off it in hopes that it won't become much worse. Get one of those sunshades (that are always a pita) and use it. Call the dealer (& Infiniti consumer affairs if necessary) and beg for some assistance to get it fixed. Don't expect to have any luck though. And whatevery you do, obviously don't go scraping a soft dash. You wouldn't want to scrape the finish right off.
Sorry this happened to you. I wish there were an easy solution.

My 08 is facing a similar situation. My work parking is unshaded so she gets a nice tan everyday.

Geez, I hope I don't end up with this issue on my wife's 08! She drives it to work every day and it's been over 100 degrees for weeks! Fortunatley, she does use a custom fit windshield screen every day, but it still probably reaches 150 degrees inside the car!
The car spent the first 5 years of it's life in Portland Oregon, and always garaged when not in use there and here, so maybe that will help too!

I live in decent weather in San Diego, so I do not seem to have that problem due tothe fact that the temperature rarely goes above 90 degrees. I would recommend garaging your car or parking it in a place of shade such as under a tree if you can.

Ive had this also. my car is an 08 and it started melting about a year and a half ago. It sits outside and in the florida heat/sunshine it has taken a beating. it only melted and is sticky close up next to the windshield. I've heard it is pretty common, atleast in florida.
sucks but whatever. if you want im sure you can find a junkyard g37 you can get the dashboard out of fairly cheap.

Out of everyone who has sticky dashes, how many of you wipe down with water?
It seems that water by itself may be a catalyst to speed the reaction. I would recommend dry cloth wipes unless there's a stain. Also, a reflective windshield screen when parked and tint goes a long way for preserving the interior, leather, carpet, plastic, etc.
