Key FOB battery question

Okay, the dash indicator light that indicates I need to replace the battery in the Key FOB is now on so if I take the old battery out and replace it....will there be a problem with it afterwards?....I only have one and I really don't want to find out I need to take the car to the dealership just to have them re program the thing....so my question is....should I just replace the battery real fast or will that cause a problem with the KEY FOB? Thanks in advance...

Just replace it exactly like you would any other battery. No problem. No reprogramming.

This is correct. Alternatively, you could stack two 2016 batteries.

I don't think you can stack the batteries. You are essentially running them in series and therefore putting 6v into your remote which will fry it. Correct me if I am wrong though.

2 batteries won't physically fit.

OP ignore that and get the correct 2032 battery. Why the hell would anyone want to pay 2 batteries when you can just buy one? That doesn't even make any sense!

Troll BB is Troll .

I think he was talking about this. Referring to buy a package of two and just keep on stacked just in case.

I had the key indicator light come on in my 2010 g37s 6mt. the key worked just fine but I figured the battery was about to die so I replaced it. the light stayed on. took it to the dealership and they cleared it and don't know exactly why it even came up. funny thing is it just started after I bought my galaxy S5 a couple of weeks ago. so I take my car home and it pops back up. I take it back to the dealership. they clear my phone sync off my car and tell me to drive around without syncing it for a couple of days and see if it comes back on. well its been a couple of days and im about to sync it back up today. if the light comes back what could it be? the dealership already told me if it comes back on they have no clue what to do. anybody have this happen to them?

I can't think of any possible way that the phone being paired over bluetooth could have any impact on how charged the car believes your fob battery is. It's not like the wireless transmission between the two could interfere with each other because the fob is transmitting radio, not bluetooth, which is what you're phone is transmitting. If it is indeed caused by the phone being paired with the car, it has to be some sort of bug with the software running in the car that is causing it.

Update, so far so good with the light staying off after I re-sync the phone to the car last night. still no light this morning. totally has me scratching my head. maybe it was something to do with the phone but since he cleared my old phone data out of my car and I had to set it up again it gave me a clean slate?
