My dealer uses a synthetic Blend. What is that?

I did the same and have just over 40k on the car now. No problems to report here. Hope that helps.

copy and paste from J.D.Power website:

What is a synthetic blend?
Regular petroleum-based motor oil and synthetic motor oil are fully compatible, and can be readily mixed. Some manufacturers combine the two types of oil and package the mixture as a synthetic blend. Synthetic-blend oils offer many of the benefits of fully synthetic oil, but at a reduced cost. Be sure to consult your owner’s manual or the vehicle manufacturer before considering a switch to synthetic blend oil.

I always switch to Mobil 1 for my new cars at the first oil change... which for me is 2,500 miles. I'll typically go 5-6K miles between oil changes, but frankly, it could go longer. Been doing this for a very long time, since my first I30 (and my second I30, and my 2007 M35x.) Doing it on my brand spanking new G37XS when the time comes.

FYI, apparently the myths/concerns persist about using synthetic oil in anything other than a new car. Your engine won't leak oil (unless it's already leaking oil). Besides the greatest benefit of reduced friction versus dino oil, cold weather startups are instant... no cranking over and over.
