how much does oil change and tire rotation cost??
My g37 2008 is 12 months old now with ~9k miles on it. It has been serviced only once when it was 6 months old.
I called the dealer for a regular service maintenance, and they said its going to cost $170 for an oil change and tire rotation.
Is this reasonable?
I had paid $45 the first time I had service (oil change) done on this car...
Thanks in advance for your responses...

You have 9k miles on it and you have only had one oil change!!!!!!!!!!!!! You should have had one at 500 miles and another at 3500 & 6500 or every 3 months. If yo had full sythetic oil than you could go a little longer but I know that you dont if you have only had one oil change. Also, your tires cannot be rotated because the tires are staggered. Every dealership knows this and if you dumb enough to pay for it than they are smart enough to rip you off. The only rotation that you could do would be to switch your tires side to side which you dont need to do at 9k miles.
Next time you talk to the stupid noob at the dealership, inform them that you have a G37 Coupe and your tires cant be rotated. Then call them an idiot.

Heat ....thanks for the quick response...
So.....at 12 months and 9k miles....the car only needs an oil change?
Again, thanks for the clarification on the tire rotation for the g37...

If you have 18" tires they can and should be rotated, 19's you cannot.
I strongly disagree with Heat in that it is absolutely a waste of money to get your first oil change at 500 miles, but some people do. It's not recommended bu the manufacturer. Recommended service is to get oil changed every 3750 miles for severe service and 7500 for light service. Only 9K miles in a year isn't all that bad, so you probably are OK on the oil change. The difference in cost is that Infiniti is now recommending the ester oil which is about $12-15 per quart from the dealership. That is most of your cost for the oil change with labor probably being about $20-30. If you ask nicely, they may rotate tires for free if you have the 18" wheels.

just to clarify, only sport 19's are staggered, regular 18's are not, and can and should be rotated, but not until atleast 6k miles. An oil change at 500 miles is a little crazy IMO, but not as crazy as only having 1 service done at 6k miles . I have the free maintenance for 3 yrs/36k and just follow that exactly. I think Infiniti would know what our cars need, and they say first oil change at normal 3months/ or 3000miles, then every 3months/3k miles after that. Tire rotation was done by them at 6 months, 6k miles per their maintenance schedule. They also did a tire alignment at 9k miles/ 9 months.

500 mile oil change is a waste. at 9k miles, you only need to worry about oil change and all the inspections which are free. and yes, i would definitely be changing your oil more often. i personally am doing 1 at 3k then going to full synthetic at 6k miles where i will change every 6k.
