Bought mine last November, have low battery warning too.
The key port does not charge the key battery. Batteries could charge through induction without any contact points (like sonicare toothbrush) but no, our key doesn't do that. The key port is for you to be able to start the car if the battery is dead.

Funny thing is....is that the dealer told me that leaving the key in your pocket CONSERVES the battery as opposed to pressing the buttons on the intelligent key to unlock the car. Makes me wonder how much sooner it would have discharged had I used it the old school way!

Purchased mine Sept 02/07... had to replace battery six month later...changed once a month later and again three weeks later. Now it has been almost 4 months knock on wood. Dealer says bad battery

Electric toothbrushes use inductive charging to eliminate contacts.
The CR2032 is a lithiam battery which are not rechargable. Also, don't you have to take the key out of the fob? I think people just get confused because you're supposed to use that option when the battery runs down in the fob.
I'd say your buttons are getting pressed by accident.

Man....this is very discouraging. Is the dealer replacing the batteries for you or are you replacing them yourselves?
