Thinking about a 2015 Q60 Convertible

My wife currently has a 2011 G37 sedan. Wife has always wanted a convertible. With the discounts being offered, thinking about trading it in for a Q60. I understand that the 2015 Q60 is essentially a rebadged G37 coupe/convertible.

Question for all, if you were to do all over again. would you a buy a G37 or Q60 convertible again?

By the way she loves the G37 sedan.

Thanks

I went from a G35 to a Q50 Sedan to a 2015 Q60 6mt coupe.

Loving the Q60 so far BUT it's at the dealership getting work done at barely 2800 miles. Needs a new slave cylinder and CSC tube. Probably need to run an Oil Consumption test too. Since the oil is barely at the halfway mark on the dipstick.

The Q50 was a poor decision on my part. (electronic steering, intouch lag, etc etc).

The issues noted above are primarily related to a manual transmission, the G37 has rock solid reliability for the most part. Slight oil consumption is common with these cars, as it is with many. Serious oil consumption would be an uncommon occurrence, but not impossible.

If she likes the G37 sedan now and prefers convertible cars, you really can't go wrong. Maybe look at a CPO G37 and save a few bucks.

my G Vert!
Makes me smile every time I drive it, even after 6.5 years.
You don't really see a lot on the road and it always turns heads.
Great performance, hard top, 6MT - super package!

Get either! Look to get a preowned! you will pay half the price! Then buy an extended warranty (infiniti Elite) which is a better price than if you buy a certified pre-owned one. Or look for a certified. That car will depreciate by 25k the first year if it is new! I love my Q60 IPL, it is used but looks and drives like new!

Drove a Q60 vert loner last month, and I couldn't tell the much difference from my 2010 base vert. So it has good power, brakes, and steering. I didn't like the seats- too little padding and the seats were somewhat narrower. Otherwise, it's just a rebranded G37.

Random thoughts:

I don't own a Vert but always wanted one. I did once have a '64 Vette Vert. (quite another story)...

I have a '13 coupe an I have to say it its positively dialed. I think the fit and finish is excellent and the seats feel like they were custom made for me personally. (and I'm 3XL)

A neighbor has a Vert and I always had an envious eye for it. Such a slick looking car.
I dig the speakers on the seats.
I highly recommend you take an extended test drive and see if it feels as well put together as your previous G.

Two other things: Unlike Sedans, Verts don't have much trunk space with the top down. Keep that in mind, if bringing things along is a priority for the wife.

And like Coups, the back seat in the Verts is only suitable for dogs and plants.

Hi there droz..just thought I'd add my 2 cents..about 2 months ago, I bought a 2012 convertible..pd. $27,000 for it and also got the extended warranty for it(another $2,300.00)..have loved it..it replaced my 2010 G37 coupe, which I also loved..so, I would definitely look at pre-owned as well, certified if possible...don't forget to get the wind deflector, as well..either way, I don't think you can go wrong!!

I have a love affair with mine too, although it's probably still the honeymoon stage. She's black, she's sexy, but alas, she's not going to win any races. I'm ok with that, great car for the money!

The magic keeps happening...

There's a new red vert owner on the East Coast, a low mileage S that sure is making big smiles. He/She has posted pics on the coupe forum.

I had a "11 Limited Edition. Leaked, rattled, roof dings and the typical vert frame flex on rough roads and I can truly say I'll never have another of these POS's ever again.
I have a '15 Audi tt Roadster with none of the above issues, rock solid, that will run circles around the G37.
Saddest day of my life was when the tornado in 2011 took my paid off G35 Coupe and the happiest day was when I returned the 2011 G37 vert at lease end.
So Long members.............

It might run circles around our Verts but at least our 37's don't look like upside down bath tubs. One of the ugliest cars on the road........

^ lol!! Haven't heard that one before - good one though.
Oooodi (.) did improve the looks a bit between generations, but it's still highly subjective indeed, while Gs are generally considered good looking cars.
