Edit: just seen this was 4 months old. Sorry, but still a possible solution.
If you're not thrilled with getting an exhaust you can always start piece by piece and see if a particular component eliminates the rasp. Start with the y pipe, then x, then add a axle back like Tanabe if it makes it that far.
I have a feeling just an aftermarket y pipe connecting straight to the cats might to the trick. I seen one for sale right now on the classifieds.

I've had z1 hfc for year and half now and yes there ALOT of hissing. Doesn't bother me to much. Now on to the rasp. I can't blame the hfc for all the rasp (headers added some, and I feel like the top speed exhaust did also.) The rasp is mostly from what I can tell at lower rpm. Haven't had the FI rhfc or the rtp but that will be what I switch to if I do switch.

Z1 Hfc
I'm about to have some pros install my z1 hfcs but they are the 100 cpsi ones. I do already have some Vibrant 12" resonators and the rest of my exhaust is stock. Wish me luck. I'll upload a video to YouTube when I can!
