They both sound great seems like the z1 is a little louder but I guess it's to be expected since it's nonot resonated

Ugh such a difficult decision

Sounds pretty good man. I'm going to record mine in the exact same fashion and see what it sounds like compared to yours. If it sounds better and you are $800 richer than me then kudos. You probably won't have the same gains though but that's marginal at best anyway.

Yup, definitely rasp. Maybe because it's mated to the stock exhaust?

What is the difference between being connected to the stock vs aftermarket exhaust?

Really couldn't tell you but keep in mind I have a bit of rasp on initial hard acceleration with mine as well. It might just be the nature of high flow cats in general.

It's only infamous if it's common and/or widely known. You and I have PM'd about this, and I think you've got something going on that warrants further investigation. Get the car back up on the lift, find out where that noise is coming from.

Here are some anecdotal opinions about cats and cat-backs on the Sedan, that I established over the last few years reading about modified G's here on this forum. Right or wrong, it's just another opinion. 1) All cat upgrades are worthy for performance; that's almost a given. 2) For sound, non-resonated high-flow cats (like Berk) are great when matched with the OEM cat-back, but when matched with an aftermarket cat-back, you run the risk (!) of really annoying rasp in the setup. No guarantee, just risk.

That's the reason I went with the resonated cats from FI this year, to future proof next year's cat-back.

I think the hiss is fairly common. I know I was expecting it as I made the changeover.

At this point, the only thing I know for sure is that opinions about rasp and hiss are wildly varied, and only as accurate as the subjective assessment of the person making them. So the best you can do is aggregate what everyone says, and try to make an educated decision. Then you just leap in eyes open, or shut, either way you leap. Besides, modding the car is all about compromise. I'm sure there will be some here too.

That would be philosophical BS...

There is nothing subjective about the claims I'm making as my video is proof in the pudding.

I've listened to the video a few times and I still don't hear the rasp. Sounds normal to me.
