Snow mode?
Hey guys so I drove my car this morning to work and it is a beast with the new snow tires! But I'm wondering exactly what the snow button does. Thanks in advance

Using Google or the owner's manual would help. Section 2, page 41.
For driving or starting the vehicle on snowy roads or slippery areas, turn on the SNOW mode switch. The indicator light (1) on the switch will illuminate. When the SNOW mode is activated, engine output is controlled to avoid wheel spin.

Snow mode on the G locks power 50/50 F/R up to 12mph, and reduces throttle response. Once you're driving it makes no difference as it reverts to rwd above 12mph as long as there's no slippage, same as with snow mode off.

What Epiphany said!
Also...Hit the snow button and turn DSC off (if you're stuck in the snow or trying to get out of a parking spot). With DSC on, once your car detects slippage, it will cut power. You don't want this as you need that extra umphf to move through the snow.

From the FSM:
Throttle response is dulled when snow mode is activated. It has nothing to do with the AWD system.
SNOW MODE SWITCH
Description INFOID:0000000008291644
The snow mode switch signal is sent to the “unified meter and A/C amp.” from the snow mode switch. The
“unified meter and A/C amp.” then sends the signal to the ECM via the CAN communication line.
The snow mode is used for driving or starting the vehicle on snowy roads or slippery areas. If the snow mode
is activated, the vehicle speed will not accelerate as quickly as normal to avoid vehicle slip. In other words,
ECM controls rapid engine torque change by controlling the electric throttle control actuator operating speed.

I've never encountered a situation where I feel the need to engage "snow mode". I also run DSC off for most of my time in the snow, I find it more invasive then anything... Snow tires and not driving like a fool for the win!

seems pointless - if i have enough sense to push the SNOW MODE button, i also have enough sense to not slam the gas pedal to the floor when its slippery out.
if it set the AWD 50/50, that would be far more useful.

I never found DSC to be a problem in the snow in this car. Other cars are a different story. My mothers old Toyota was downright dangerous and it couldn't be turned off.

One day while testing a G37 my daughter asked me, "What does this snow button do?" I told her when you push the button is starts to snow outside. She just sat there silent for about 20 seconds and then said, "How's that possible?" (She's 21 BTW) Lord, help me...
