That's what I've been paranoid a lot about recently too. It's been storming hard the past couple of months in CA and I've been very weary to drive in the rain with the car in case it sucks up too much water since I don't have a splash guard installed.

I've been driving in heavy rain when it rained often in Houston. No issues without splash guard. I've had it since around the Fall of last year

30min to hr I wanna say. I have my oem Grill so it's kind of like a splash guard because of how its angled at high speed. I also park outside since I don't have a garage as well. Never had issues. I hear people in Seattle have no issues and they deal with more rain than I do.

I'm liking the dual filter idea, but was thinking rather than using K&N, I could "build my own" AFE Dry-S filter. Based on the dimension OP listed it looks like for essentially the same price as K&N I could get a AFE and not have to worry about the hassle of oiling. I often get 10% off coupons from AFE in my email so it may even reduce the price more.

I have a few mods in line before getting a intake but wanted to see what others thoughts are and/or if anyone else has gone this route.

You have one of those coupon codes?? I'll give it a shot. Filter height needs to be 5" though, otherwise everything else looks good.
