Sorry to hear about that, but I would confirm an oil pressure check at the dealer, there's a possibility it could be something else, even a faulty pressure sensor. Here's a post I made about that whole dreaded procedure including a detailed DIY on that, it's a biggie https://www.myg37.com/forums/engine-...t-failure.html Good luck & hope it's something much easier to take care of.

2010 g37xs Uprev tuned 77,000 miles, well maintained, new 5w/30 Mobil One and filter.Been getting a p0021 code,no oil pressure code. Bucks at about 3500 like it's hitting the rev limiter. Whats the chance it's just a Cam pos.sensor or an INTAKE VALVE TIMING CONTROL SOLENOID VALVE
And not a bad timing cover gasket?if it's the gasket's bad will I see the leaking oil?

No, you won't see leaking oil, the oil gallery gasket will fail and spew oil back into the cover, unless your outer rtv gasket starts to leak.

Have you had this problem? Everything else I read they get a p0021 with a p0524 and I don't have the p0524.

No, haven't had that problem, have you confirmed oil pressure w/ the dealer?

Update - I took the car in for diagnostic, their suspicion was that the light came on due to the type of oil that was used (I'm not entirely sure what it was, I had my dad take it in the week I lent him the car). He said that the VVEL systems can be quite sensitive in this way.

They put in the usual synthetic that I have used the last several changes, and it has run well for about 50km now. It seems too good to be true (the cheapest possible problem). Fingers crossed!

Anyone else have issue with his/her G reacting poorly to wrong weight/conventional oil?

EDIT: Thanks for the DIY as well, it looks very thorough. I'm in no way qualified to do that procedure unfortunately, I can do like fluids/plugs/brakes and that's about it.

Need help!!! I am in Toronto area, Canada. . I have a 2009 g37 sport sedan 6mt and just had this happen. (rear timing gasket leak) I bought an aftermarket protection plan so all i have to pay is a $100 deductible. The work is being done this Monday by infiniti. Infiniti swears that the gaskets to go back in are paper. I have given them part numbers 13555-jk21a and 13555-jk21b and they say these gaskets are paper also and do not fit. If i put them in, then the aftermarket company said they will not warranty the product if it happens again. My question is whether the original gaskets and these uodated gaskets are both paper?? What should I do. Is there a different part number for these Gaskets inn Canada. Really need to hear from Canadians who had this done esp. to see what part they used. Thanks. I have to Monday morning to figure this out.

The newest gaskets should be updated by now, I think someone said paper and metal? If not then that's all you can get.

Wish there was an exact build date for reference, but when Infiniti doesn't even admit there's an updated gasket, and this problem is indeed a design flaw it's going to be hard to determine. There was a 2013 that had the problem but the engine was in such a poor state (sludge buildup throughout the motor) and the original gasket wasn't retrieved to confirm it's makeup that that was a missed opportunity for some clarity
Here's the thread, if there is confirmation of which gasket that 2013 had I missed it (or it's been so long I can't recall (DOH!)
https://www.myg37.com/forums/engine-...t-failure.html
IIRC the original thread on G35driver listed the new gaskets were revised in 2012, but weather or not the newest gaskets were actually in 2012 model Gs is the million dollar question.

Darn.
Got any tips to look out for on my13? Should i stick with dealer oil or safe to do full synthetic or do i run the risk of dislodging sludge?

I'm assuming your G has been properly maintained. The 13 G that was failing was unknowingly bought in bad condition, which appears to have been neglected quite a bit.

Running quality synthetic won't be a problem, just don't add any oil-flush type products.
