How many miles is too many?
I am looking at purchasing a used G35x/G37x sedan. My budget is not very high so I have been looking at G's with around 100K miles at the minimum. Obviously maintenance plays a huge factor in the condition of any car, but generally speaking what is considered to be TOO HIGH mileage? The 2nd gens (way more appealing than the 1st gen sedans IMO) in my price range seem to be closer to like 120-140k miles. Specifically found an 09 G37xS sedan in white (first color choice) with 140k. Don't see a price on the listing but from a mileage standpoint is it a bad idea?

The engines can last a very long time if taken care of well, I've seen many with over 200k. Problem with buying used is you don't always know the maintenance history of the car. If you are looking at a car with 140k, how do you know that the previous owner(s) did their fluids and repairs on time? How do you know they weren't putting 87 octane in the tank? At 140k with poor maintenance the engine is probably already close to done.
I would stick to something under 100k, at that point you can put new fluids in the car and from that point on get at least another 50k out of the engine.

IDK!! engine close to toast at 140k? I guess it would be possible if they never changed the oil. But, anyways i would be more worried about the alternator, starter, axles, suspension components,ect...... than the motor blowing up.

That was all I used
Still using 87 Octane on my current 2012 G37S at 78k miles.
No problems.

My 2003 G35 is still a daily driver to work etc. (G37 for the weekends only), and it has 256,000 miles on it.
Can't say I babied the car or really did much maintenance on it, I think I only changed the brake fluid twice but the oil was changed every 7,500 with full sync.
And I also only put 87 octane gas in it.
Not sure why people think that putting 87 oct. gas will cause any problems. The knock sensor and the ECU will manage lower oct. gas for you..

I wouldn't be comfortable buying a car that was driven over 15,000 mi/yr. And that '09 has about 20,000 mi/yr. To me, that's a ton of miles with a lot of unknown occurrences (undocumented collisions, track time, postponed maintenance items), even for a 1-owner vehicle. Of course the rear timing gasket can always take a dump on you, which will negate any savings. This issue affects both high and low mileage cars so it's all up to chance.
My advice is to save up a bit more cash and buy a newer, lower-mileage car. Time is always on your side because inventory is building up from all the trade-ins, causing values to drop every day. What you'll be able to buy today for $15k will be worth $12k in a year.

Wow. If you didn't want the full performance of your V6, you should of bought a G25. 87 will lower the performance.
