Extended warranty (elite care) on '12 G37 < 20K miles
Details: 16K miles on odometer, 7 months remaining on factory warranty
Originally bought the car with 96/100K elite care extended warranty. Tossing the idea of canceling that contract and renewing closer to when the factory warranty will run out. I'll still be under 20K miles at that time.
Is a 96month/100K mile option still available?
On my original service contract printout, it only shows 84 months for pre-owned < 20K miles tier. Then again, that was from late 2011 so things may have changed now.

Got some options today from Courtney of Infiniti of Scottsdale.
What I proposed above is certainly possible. Only caveat is the vehicle would require a clean bill of health by way of a pre-owned vehicle inspection from a nissan/infiniti dealership. Typical charge likely an hour of labor, ~$100, give or take.
It would cost me $2140 to extend it out another 8 yrs if I get it just before the factory warranty ends and before 20K miles. This comes out to ~$270 a year.
When I got the car, it cost me $1400 to extend coverage by 4 years, so effectively $350/yr. By canceling coverage now, the prorated refund would be ~$750.
Question boils down to is it worth forking over another $1400 in 6 months to be covered for 8 more years.........This amounts to $175/yr assuming I keep the car the whole time.
Ugh... Decisions!@#

Hi,
Sounds like we're in a similar situation..
I originally leased my 2011 Infiniti G37 Sedan in July 2011 for 3 years. At the end of 3 years I wasn't even remotely close to the miles they allowed (30,000).. I was sitting at around 16,000 due to my work being only few miles away from my place.
I ended up opting to purchase the car and I paid an extra $2,000 or so to fully extend the warranty including the service options, etc. In my opinion it was worth the money because now for the next 6 years everything including service, and warranty on major parts is fully covered.
I just wanted to have that piece of mind knowing that such an expensive car needs a good warranty plan wrapped around it. This was also my first major car purchase (I'm 27, and this is my 3rd car owned since I was 16).
To your question on the "96month/100K", I didn't see this option available when they offered me plans.. I believe the highest they had (which I picked) was 72 month/90k. Although I noticed in the handbook they do 96 month / 120k = https://owners.infinitiusa.com/conte...niti_Elite.pdf
Let us know how it turned out!

^^It might be an age thing too. Available warranty options are definitely a function of miles, but possible of car age too. Courtney did mention they started offering the 96month option on preowned cars about 2 years ago.
I'm still undecided. For $175/yr it is a bit of a no brainer. Anything more than a minor repair will cost more to fix. Parts for the recent power steering TSB (reservoir replacement) amount to over $200 alone.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong here but the Elite warranty is for anybody whose car isnt CPO. But if you are purchasing a CPO from an Infiniti dealer, you can purchase a CPO wrap warranty that is much lower than the Elite extended, and they both cover the same things.

They do cover the same items and have the same exclusions.
CPO:

Elite:
https://owners.infinitiusa.com/conte...niti_Elite.pdf
However, here's the catch with CPO (which the label and associated cost can be removed by any dealer selling CPO'd Infinitis- upon request. You end up with an Infiniti that was supposedly inspected and gone over thoroughly to meet CPO requirements).
CPO ='s
6 YEARS/100,000 MILES
For a period of 72 months from the vehicle in-service date or up to 100,000 miles on the odometer, whichever occurs first, Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan), the ...
So if you bought a 2012 CPO'd car off a lot tomorrow..It has 30k miles on the clock and it's in-service date was 11/2011 .. You CPO warranty would be good until 11/2017 or for the next 70k miles, whichever comes first.
The Elite warranty is in addition to your current mileage and is based off the day you bought it for length it is extended out to. That's the big advantage to it. Purchase a 6yr/100k mile warranty w/ $100 deduct for an Infiniti (usually in the $1300-1400 range-- ballparking based off my own terms I found 2 years ago). Apply it to the same car as mentioned for example above, coverage through 9/2021 or 130k miles (but I believe at 30k miles, you can't purchase the 6 / 100k , I think it's 6/80k that's offered,-- I believe you have to be under 20k miles to get the 6/100k, but you get the drift).
It's really all about the length of time you plan to own the car and you want the assurance that that headunit, navi ..all the stuff that I was personally not wanting to should the costs for should they go out. Same now goes for the gallery gasket issue that pre-2012 G's are prone to (read Black Betty's Infiniti Consumer Affairs thread for more info) that can rack up some serious coin to be fixed.
The Elite warranty can also be transferred to the next owner and it can also be returned for a pro-rated amount based off mileage or duration of contract left (the lesser of the two amounts of course).

Thanks for the info. I agree, my dealer is pushing this CPO wrap coverage that extends to 84mo for $1690 or 96mo for $1890 but from in service date so that would expire 2019 or 2020 (original date is in 2012). It covers the same as the elite warranty BUT essentially you are paying twice for it since the wrap covers what the cpo covers as well.
I spoke to Courtney and she quoted me 6years/82k miles for $2450 with $100 deductible, which I think is too much tbh.

Bumping this thread for some feedback. I'm looking at purchasing a CPO G37, 2012 with about 32K on the odometer. It's title date is 10/2012 so I'd have another 2 years and 9 months, 33 months total, 100K miles of warranty with the CPO.
I don't know how much will come off the price of the car if I ask them to remove the CPO. It still has 9 months of factory warranty left.
I had Courtney price me out on a 2011 with 35K and I wouldn't expect the numbers to change too much cost wise. To get something similar from a time standpoint, I'm looking at a 36K plan and just to be safe, 48K miles. I probably drive about 10K a year currently.
So that's a $1480 plan going by her quote on the 2011. Not sure the dealership would drop the price of the car by $1480 by removing the CPO. I'll try to find out tomorrow but general thoughts appreciated before I pull the trigger. Anything I'm not considering/seeing? Assuming the "perks" like a loaner are the same for the elite.
