Looking to buy a G37 need advice

Hey guys,

I am looking to buy a used G37 for around 20K, would go up to 30K if I find a really good deal. I test drove a couple cars yesterday and had a few questions.

So the first one I test drove was:

2010 Infiniti G Sport *Leather Interior,Sport Package* for $18,927 in Winnipeg | autoTRADER.ca

Really liked the interior and the look, but the gas pedal and accelerator felt very heavy to me. I was struggling with the steering even at points. Also, the car had a $4,000 insurance claim in 2011 I believe. This was my first time driving a G37 coupe so not sure if the issue with the gas pedal and steering is normal.

The second one I drove was:

2009 Infiniti G Premium PKG: Sunroof for $18,991 in Winnipeg | autoTRADER.ca

This one felt a lot easier to drive for me, could be because it is a sedan. The steering was more responsive and the accelerator wasn't heavy at all. Unfortunately, I was not a fan of the look or interior.

This is my first time buying a car and I don't really know much about the mechanics. Basically looking for something fun and reliable that would last me 3 years.

Anyways I wanted to know if there are any known issues I should look for when buying a 2010-2012 G37 ? Thanks for helping me!

i bought 2012 year G37 sedan two weeks ago, 19500 miles on it.. malbec black for $22500. extremely clean and has CPO. got it from warren henry infiniti in south florida.
look for following and all this is covered under warranty if you have some left..
driving seat bulge \ bubble in bottom leather (covered under warranty, they replace the whole bottom)
center console squeaking noise (covered under warranty)
power steering fluid wobbles in reservoir (covered)
car idles rough at stops when A/C is on (rpm goes below 500 and car tries to stall), covered.
entertainment screen sometimes has too much flicker (refresh rate too low), covered.

these are my items.. i have kept 3 different G37s in past 2 years lol.. sedan -> coupe -> sedan.. all three had seat and idle issue.

i hope this helps.

Can you explain more on the leather seat bubble? I'm sorr of confused.

And to the OP, both of the cars are base models as in they don't have navigation or any of that. I feel you could find a better deal but I'm not quite sure due to different locations have different prices. I perfer sedan > coupe.

That’s odd, I thought seat bubble term is common in use lol.
What I meant by seat bulge or bubble is, the bottom part of seat leather will part from the cushion around middle section of the seat. This will create an air gap \ bubble \ bulge around that area. Its visible and looks ugly, if you have one, you will know.

Thanks! That definitely helps. Oh I din't know they were base models. Yea, I din't plan on getting either of those, still looking.

First time I've heard about seat bubble lol. It seems the both the coupe and sedan are the same underneath it all?

This seems like a better deal to me anyways:
2010 Infiniti G Luxury AWD NAV for $21,988 in Winnipeg | autoTRADER.ca

I am not sure about canadian market lol.. we have 2011-2012 year model at this price (still under warranty) 2010 is definitely out of it and all above items wont be covered :/
if you have warranty and you know how to use / abuse it lol, its reallly worth it.
how hard it is to come to usa and get your car shipped?
south florida has real good prices.. look at the following link, these are not CPO though..
but you can buy CPO from dealer if you want..
offlease, clean carfax G37
its not to make you drool, just trying to show you prices if getting it from here is an option.

Yea the Canadian market is generally more expensive for some reason. I hadn't really considered the US until now I guess lol. Mostly due to laziness!

It's not hard, just have to pay the taxes in both countries from what I understand. Those prices are insane compared to here.

Well in my city (winnipeg), the infiniti dealer has no CPO cars, he said they are all "certified status" but they aren't part of the CPO program. Not sure what to make of that really.

Thanks again though, will def look at cars in the states now. Also thanks for the warranty information, did not know the warranty is 5 years. As you can tell I know nothing about buying a car.
