Seems like a nice project and I hope it goes well for you. I think it'll look much nicer than the factory silver painted calipers. Especially on your white car with silver wheels.. you need something that pops a bit. Calipers are that subtle touch you need. It's always nice to have a project every once in a while to keep the car fresh.

As for me, my next project is going to be an expensive one, so it just keeps getting put off. Stage 2 Clutch, HD CSC, lightweight flywheel, 4.10's, diff bushings, and diff brace. I'm just going to have it all done together. And possibly Motordyne catted headers after that. On the bright side, we just paid off the lien on the G and I've got my title in hand now so that's always a good feeling. The wife's Cruze gets paid off in about 3 more months as well.

Congrats on paying off the car note. That's always a big deal.

Not sure I would equate a $100 diff brace with all that other work, but I get that you're doing it all at once, and yeah that can be very expensive.

4.10's? I don't think there's a Nissan rear gear ration at 4.10:1. There's 3.357, 3.916, 4.083, 4.363, and 4.625. I toyed with the idea of going to 4.363:1, but backed off for fear that first gear might be pointless.

Haha, well to be technical 4.09 (z1's FD) but I just rounded up to 4.10.

or the nissan 4.08, whichever is cheaper I suppose.

Are the catted headers really over 3k?

Wow, I suppose if that price on their website is correct. If that's the case, I'd probably opt for z1 headers with Fast Intentions RHFC for the DE motor (required to properly bolt up to their headers). Either way, it'll be over $2k most likely because I will not get headers without retaining HFC's for rasp suppression.

If you're not worried about the cats being super-efficient you can place them farther down the exhaust stream. You might get AFR sensor codes.

Calipers are powder coated, rebuilt and reassembled, ready for installation next week. Along with a set of stainless steel brake lines.

Looks fantastic! I sometimes wish I opted for powder instead of paint. This color is going to really pop against your Moonlight White!

The benefits of paint over powder is that you can paint them without disassembly. Plus it's a lot less expensive than powder.

Then again, the benefits of powder over paint is how much stronger the coverage is, much less prone to damage.

Anyway, learning how to rebuild the brakes... that was a bit of a learning curve.

Brakes Installed

I still have air in the system, so the pedal is mushy and the system needs to be re-bled. And I spent a fcking boatload of money on the installation because of a bring-your-own-parts hourly rate, and a problem with paint on the inlet threads that I could have easily avoided. So my day-after mood is somewhat dampened.

However (!!!) there's no denying how I feel about how they look. It's amazing, beautiful, gorgeous, awesome, etc. All those things.

All those years of photoshopping what it could look like if I had the calipers painted (powder coated), and now I'm seeing the real thing.

Did you intentionally mount the stickers like that? They seem reversed, or I'm looking at the images wrong. OEM read from bottom up, those look like top down.

Color looks fantastic.

You've got a decerning eye, Lego. Truthfully, I spent way more time than you would think about which way to align the decals. In the end and regardless of my efforts, I actually screwed it up, LOL. But then realized the only thing that really mattered was that they were in the same alignment on the same side of the car.
