Can you recommend a WINTER tire/wheel fit for 2011 G37xS?

Hi all,

I searched but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. Yes, i know what you're thinking, and yes, I am talking about winter in the middle of summer. I'm just trying to work out my budget for the next little bit.

I'm having trouble finding a recommended WINTER tire size for a 2011 G37xS. I'm looking for a low cost set of wheels as well as dedicated winter tires. I've seen/heard people recommend a smaller wheel size and increased sidewall on the tire to help with cost and comfort during the winter but is this the best route? If so, what exact sizes should I be looking for?

Winters in Edmonton, AB are pretty nasty so dedicated tires are a must for me. Long term, I think I can save money by investing in a dedicated set of winter wheels instead of having to go to a shop to get them changed all the time. Plus the salt and gravel would quickly destroy the nice finish on my current stock wheels.

All thoughts are welcomed. Thanks in advance!

you could keep your 19x8,.5 w/ the 225s for winter or keep them and upgrade to wider 245/40/19s for your summer set and look for some 18x7.5" OEM Infiniti Sedan wheels and run 225/50/18s for winter. There's some other OEM 18s like those from 350Zs that will clear your big calipers but will be at least 8" wide.
There's a couple OEM wheel deals here but have to confirm brake clearance on the 18s, I know the 19s clear. It's best to call them to confirm stock, it can be hit or miss

Chicago here with a 2010 xS sedan. We have rough winters too with salt. I am keeping my stock 18" wheels for the winter. Going to return the all season tires I have on those for dedicated winter tires. I have 19x8.5 summer wheels/tires. The stock wheels will hold up ok in the winter. You'd be surprised. The 18" duck feet wheels will clear the big brakes too if you have them.

You could definitely get away with a taller sidewall for winter. Nothing too extreme though.

Since you're trying to keep cost down, I'd give Tire Rack a call. They know which of their wheels will fit. The non-sport sedans come with 17" wheels. You may even try the classifieds here to see if anyone is trying to unload theirs. Be patient in your search and you could score big. Good luck!

I used the Dunlop WinterMaxx tires this past winter. Even on a 19" wheel, these things were great, I would highly recommend them.

I'm running 2003-2005 (I think) G35 coupe 18" rims to clear the BBK on my 2010 G37S. I forgot the tire size but it's up a size to compensate for missing that 1" on the rim size.

Best to look on kijiji/craiglist now for the rims to pick them up for cheap. I bought my G in the middle of winter and had to scoop up the rims ASAP and bought them for going rate....found a set a few weeks later for $200 cheaper

This is the combo I am looking at. Just not sure if it will clear the sport rims.

That looks like a staggered setup with 225/45/19 front and 245/45/19 rear. That equates to a 2.6% percent difference in diameter between the front and rear. I would stay away from it for an AWD vehicle, others may disagree.

I run Falken HS449 225/45/19 squared on stock rims in the winter and they work great here in Calgary. I purchased them from 1010tire in Vancouver.

The hassle, time/$ spent and potential mounting damage twice a year to your wheels and tires is well worth having a second set for winter. Best part is putting them on the night it's snowing in your garage. We have been pairing up a 215/55-17 size (mainly B-Stone Blizzak or Michelin X-ice XI3) tires with our Sport Edition or MSW wheels. Very easy affordable packages that would really transform an X in the winter.

You can see the complete list of winter options wheels we have available for your vehicle HERE. Simply enter the specifics on your vehicle’s make, model and year, and my site will display every option we have available that fits your vehicle properly.

Thanks Neal. The website only pulls up information for 18+ inch wheels. I the only thing deterring me from buying from tirerack is the shipping cost (shipped to EDM, AB) otherwise I would be sold. Due to these costs, I'm going to continue looking locally before I go with Tire Rack.

I'm looking at the set below which seems like a decent deal. My only concern is the damage to the lip. The seller says that it is strictly cosmetic. What do you guys think?

I'm on the 350z anniversary edition wheels:

They clear the BBK. Tire sizing if you're switching from stock 19" to 18" is 225/50/18 and 245/45/18.

Thanks for everyone's feedback! Last few questions..

I recently found a set of 4 - 18 X 8.5 Duckfeet Infiniti Wheels. I've searched but can't find confirmation. Can anyone confirm if the duckfeet Infiniti wheels will clear my sport brakes (2011 G37XS Coupe) without the use of any spacers? Also, what tire size do you recommend on these wheels. I was thinking 225/50/18 for winters.

Thanks!!

Those WILL clear the big brakes without any spacers, that tire size is correct too. Should be a good winter setup.

thanks for all the help. I got a pair of duckfeet Enkeis. They fit perfectly and I went with 225/50/18s.
