By loosening the red ring, you can raise/lower the height as you see fit. If you see this type of construction, then the unit is height adjustable independent of the spring rate:

On the Tanabe unit, there is no such mechanism to make adjustments:
Please correct me if I am wrong but the Sustec Pro S-OC have helper springs (red color) that do allow you to adjust ride height separate from the actual spring coil adjustment.

Glad that my order went through with Lou@Amplified and it's on it's way to me right now

Hey E,

Yes the do come with helper springs but they are not for height adjustments. The helper springs will give you more of a progressive spring feel (softer) and will allow your suspension to give more rebound and bump stroke. Ideal for vehicles that are equipped with high spring rates that want to occasionally drive on the street with a comfortable feel

Yeh, my mistake. There are no adjustments on the helper springs now that I looked closely at the pictures.

I've had PSS9's and Ground Controls on my previous cars and they did not have helper springs but they cost over twice as much as the Tanabe's. I guess once you say BMW they charge you double

I found that with the KW3's, you can easily dial the ride to softer than stock if needed. It's also one of the more quiet systems I have used. No rattles, or noises of any kind which are sometimes common with other brands.

If ride quality is your main concern, I think the KW3's fit the bill perfectly. I have also run them on track on stiffer settings and they handle superbly. Not my first choice for semi-dedicated track use, however. But they were a dream on the street.

i had BC and KW and KWs were the best ride out of the 2.

KWs were also very quiet.

The ride was better than stock on the KWs and the BCs couldnt come close...

The Tein SS-P coilovers (9kg F/8kg R) have a lower spring rate than all of the above mentioned CO's, and have adjustable dampening. They are in between the KW and Tanable/BC in terms of price. They may be worth looking into also....

I agree with this 110%! Mine are set a little smoother than stock and I'm slammed! Love it! Its everything you guys reviewed these coils to be!

I have had these for about 2 weeks now. Stance Gr+ OEM style. Feels pretty good so far! Plenty of adjustment for those that want to go LOW. I will have more to add when i get a chance to drive it more.
