Help!!! This doesn't seem all that difficult, but I guess it all depends on the angle. Is this dent something I can pop out on my own? Should I apply a bit of heat and then try?

My mom, bless her heart, gave me one of those old "as seen on tv" dent kings years ago, so perhaps that will help.

I don't think any dent pulling hardware will work on that, cause it looks like the its the plastic bumper (those tools are meant for metal parts I think). You might have some luck with heat though I have no idea if its legit, but I remember seeing an Instagram video of some guy pouring boiling hot water on a bumper dent and popping out with his hand from behind

Back in the day I lived on top of a hill and while heading to work on a snowy morning I slid into guardrails at the bottom of the hill smashing the lower part of my bumper cover in, very similar to how the car in the YouTube vid looked. I waited until we got a warmer day, then grabbed a hair drier, heated the area and pressed it out.

The only problem you may run into is the dent is on a crease/body line. The line may be hard to get back to true definition.

I do paint and bodywork for a living. These types of dents come in all the time. 90% of them we can get out with heat. Best if you can get a dolly behind it, that will help mold it to shape. Just takes some patience.

Thanks everyone! I'm going to give the bumper a "heated massage" and hopefully that does the trick. The dent is on a crease, but not a sharp one. Even if it's not perfect, I'm sure it will look better than it's current state.

I should be getting the sport lip soon for the rear bumper, so if my methods don't work, I guess i'll just grab a used bumper and have it painted

This may work. The angle is going to be a bit awkward for me, especially after working with boiling water, but if I jack the car up and use a creeper, I should be able to manage.

I'm not sure how much room is behind the bumper, but I've seen people use deflated footballs & basketballs behind pushed in areas. They'd slip-in the deflated ball and then start inflating it. Not sure if this will work or even help in your situation.

Thank you. This is a pretty cool trick. I'll definitely add this to the list of things to try. My garage is freezing right now, but once it warms up a bit, I'll have a go at it.

Nice camera work there...never actually see the dent removed just a cut away to a perfect back-end. Not saying it doesn't work but would've been nice to see it.

I remember hearing a trick where people hold a can of compressed air upside down so it comes out ultra chilled and then apply heat via a lighter or heat gun and the dent pops out via contraction. Just wipe away the frost from the compressed air once done...Thought it sounded neat until I heard a story of someone doing it and when they went to wipe the frost or compressed air away it wiped their paint clean off but I can't confirm.

Yeah I agree. Would've been nice to see the actual dent being popped out.

Honestly, that's my biggest fear...applying too much heat and messing up the paint. I've used a heat gun (on a car) only once before and it was to remove the badging from my MCS. Came out fine, but I was nervous as heck

I think the PDR used on the Cherokee is good for metal panels, something tells me on plastic parts are too brittle to be popped out usng that kind of pressure....but it does give me another idea for a suggestion, PDR guys in my area are mobile and quite reasonable the come to your office or go to dealships to fix stuff like this, you may want to check in your area to see what the going rate is for such a fix. I was surprised at how cheap they are. The guys that do it seem to have the finesse to get it done quickly and without damage and with the removal of dents in small areas, the expensive tools required most of the time

Basketball behind a panel definitely works. My brother did it on a Silverado. I forget how it happened but he dented the side of the bed on his truck. Took the basketball and put it behind then started inflating it and it popped out almost like it wasn't there.
