Anyone experience melting of the headlight housing on custom painted housings? Mine started to melt again and I'm stuck and disappointed due to the sun, like a magnifying glass pretty much, any solutions for it to prevent it like uv protection on headlight or something similar? I hope it doesn't spread

The black paint + clear lens + location of projector will do that to the ribbed piece. 180 NYC leaves it un-painted as I did. Although, my friend has it un-painted and his chrome also bubbled.

Not really much you can do to prevent it, maybe stay away from the black paint if you want to keep the clear lens.

Thank you for the input, even before without the clear lense it bubbled up so I guess there's not much I can do then. I love the way the black looks but just disappointed in the way it bubbled just hope it doesn't spread

I was getting ready to crack my headlights open and spray the insides matte black, is this a common problem?

To me it is because it happened twice, from what I been hearing it's the sun and can also be the heat but I'm leaning more towards the sun and the Lense and it acts like a magnifying glass pretty much, I had them done by both separate reputable people so I'm sure it's just what happened. I live in AZ so not sure if that has any play in it

Yes, leave the housing chrome if you don't want this issue when installing a STI-R clear lens. If you can park in the shade or garage frequently, then it shouldn't be a big problem.

If just going for matte black, couldn't you use a high heat bbq paint for it and not have issues?
