Shifter Trim - Creasing?

Drove my car yesterday, this wasn't there.

Drove my other car to work today, came home, got in the car to go out for some errands and see this...

Almost looks like a bubbled crease. Anybody ever see or heard of this before?

Is there a part number just for that specific trim?

It looks like the paint has bubbled up. I'm guessing it will start chipping off soon. You probably cannot get that part alone and will have to purchase the whole assembly piece. That or you could take it apart and vinyl wrap it yourself. That souldn't be that big of a job.

bump - mine is doing this too. Tried 1 dealer (I have extended warr) who said it's not covered. Will try another dealer or two.

Anyone else have this? Seems like a defect that should be covered under warranty : (

From my 2008 G37S Coupe:

Shifter Trim - Creasing?-20170326_195644.jpg

The part number is 96936-JK60A. You can not get it from Infiniti but eBay has a bunch of them for around $60.

I am quite sure it is the same part/part number regardless of Coupe or Sedan.

Hope this helps.

OEM Vinyl Wrap...lol

Definitely looks like a legitimate warranty claim to me. It's pretty clearly a manufactured defect, there's no obvious way this would have been done by the owner.

i don't see why this wouldn't be covered under warranty. the chrome part of my arm rest was peeling off and the dealer replaced the whole armrest for me.
