My Custom GTR Start Button

I reached out to Grojas112 for a swap of the LED lights on my GTR start button to custom colors. My color selections were red (lock), white (acc), blue (on, start/stop, and engine). His soldering is extremely clean, and the turnaround was less than 24 hours from when he received my button guts. I highly recommend his work if you want to change the LED colors on your start button.

Board After:

Where did you order your pish button from Ebay or direct from a Nissan Dealership? What was the price for the changed LED board? Looks awesome man.

Thanks for the complement. I got my button used, but they're about $40 on Amazon. The LED changes ran about $40 as well. I believe he will also do a complete package for you if you reach out to him.

If ur decent with soldering, even if not u should be able to handle it. You just need to buy the LED and the button or just mod the OEM one. You would also need a resistor if u plan to mod the engine light one.

Where would you get the LED lights from, and what type?

Had to comb through my replies cause i forgot lol.

Center LED :
Package: 0805
Size: 2 mm x 1.2 mm x 1.1 mm

Lettering LED:
Package: PLCC-2
Size: 3 mm x 2.8 mm x 1.75 mm
You will need 3 PLCC-2 for the letters on top
and one 0805 for the center.(Note the original LED is blue, there is just a cover over it making it white or w/e it originally was. Just pop that off and its all blue.)
If you want the engine part to light up you will need to get a GTR button. It does seem like buttons on and before 08 might have a clear engine lettering but im not sure.

Does anyone know the size(ohms) of the resistor you have to add for the Engine led? or do you really need the resistor at all?

That will depend on the LED you use and what the forward voltage and current are. That's assuming the original light is incandescent. If the original was an LED already, I don't see why the resistor would be needed as the circuit should already be compensated for it and should not be that off if using a similar led.

Edit: The 0805 is an SMD, which leads me to believe it is replacing an existing 0805 SMD. I can't imagine a resistor is needed for that application.

I didn't think I would need a resistor either. As I look at the picture of the circuit board I don't see any traces that led from where the engine led would go. Every other led is connected to the resistors already on the board, and if you look at the middle led its connected to a resistor and there is also a trace that leads from it to where a resistor could possibly go. I am just going to give it a shot without a resistor. (I know that was a lot)

If you want to be safe (basically, if you don't want to have to go back in to the button) you could lookup the part number on the smd that is there and check the specs. If the new led is within spec, there should be no need for an additional resistor. It's all about heat. LEDs go out due to heat. if forward voltage and current are equivalent, the LED should be able to handle it.
