Heads Up Display

thanks rdog- im still on the fence on this, so pics (real life) will help. also, I wont do it, but had thought about mounting it somewhere like where the center speaker is, remove mesh etc, that way its out of sight, but I guess that would not be quite heads up, more heads up sideway or something. anyway, as you said, maybe just a cool gadget. I did see some upcoming devices that have these features, but use your phone and they have their own built in display etc..

Here's a quick picture I took in the garage just to show the colors. I have it just laying by the left front pillar. It's easy to route the wire that goes to the OBD port to the left of the dash. I did have it on the speaker grill on top of the dash but did not care for the wire showing. I'll post more pics of it on the road and how it looks installed with the wires tucked in when I get a chance. It's just really a toy for my toy.

that looks pretty nice actually, though I know(presume) in broad and bright daylight, that output would diminish. I'm still on the fence on it though, but neat gadget, just wish I could hide it better as it would seem to be an invite of sort for the smash and grab crowd...and don't want to move it each and every time I get out etc...

Good point about the smash and grab. You can unplug it from the cord and store it away if you wanted to. You are right about it diminishing in day light. In fact, you can't really see it during the day while wearing sunglasses. One note. If u look closely at the pic u can see a bit of a double image on the windshield of the display. This is due to the protective lamination of the windshield. The unit does ship with a plastic sheet that can be adhered to the inside of the windshield to eliminate this.

you can get one of these on Amazon for like $13, which would be cool to use with the Torque app in HUD-mode, but ....
many reviews i've seen say the "glass" part is too small. i have a Galaxy Note phone, so ...

^^I've seen a few like these as well and do like the way the image is more concentrated or in some way improved Even in daylight driving but most of them are still on preorder , T least the ones I liked on Amazon....so if I go that route will wait for reviews ....

are you thinking of the "Hudway"? that's a Kickstarter item for $69 that may or may not ever be released. i'd pay the extra money for this if it works with bigger phones ...

yep, thats the one I was reading about, seems like it had much more build criteria so thought it would be a better way to go in long term, but realize its a KI and may not ever make it out. I did see quite a few of those, similar to your link as well and that one seems to be the largest at ~8x6" so much more versatility on phone sizes.

that looks cool, but they seem to not want to show the OBDII cable that's going to run across your dash and hang down under the steering wheel to power it.
